Im not digging the rice on that car but... Cosworth ring a bell? Can make fun of a cars exterior but dont underestimate whats under the hood if you dont understand whats in it 
Thanks to neonimpact for shedding some light on this and clownprince was right about the cars potential. Most any car with a stock turbo has great capability if the build quality is there from the start.

Rep Power: 0 These Merkur's were very nice and fast cars when they came out. The reason it was released in the US is because Ford wouldn't release the Ford Escort Cosworth over here. And if you know what that car is, this car was released being the equivalent on US Soil.

yup. most cars are faster than ours (past,present,future). But that doesn't give the car manufacturer the right to slap on that whack spoiler.

Rep Power: 0 Nope it was out the same time as mercury had a division. It was just a seperate division of Ford brought here to see the reaction to overseas models released in the US.

if some of you just care about "potential" then go for it.
Appearance and brand name is always the first thing people look and judge the driver. No wonder how powerful the car is, if it is classify as some cheap car, it is just doomed. We have to see who is being laughed, a nice Celica or the old crap on the pic??
But it is not right to make fun of people having some poor car...maybe he just lost his job? or maybe he just got it for daily drive and he has a BMW at home (I doubt it)
