FP 2004 Civic Coupe
well, i went to the dealership today to get something checked out and i saw the new 2004 Factory Performance Civic. It was that new gunmetal color with the factory aero kit, lowered, FP rims, and some toher small stuff. it did look good and all, but it was WAY overpriced. they wanted $22,995 for it!! talk about a rip off. you can get a frickin RSX-S for that kind of money and you don't even get any performance modifications with the FP civic. i just thought i would share with you how much of a rip off the FP civic is.

i think they figure "ok we'll make a car people wont really have to modify too much, so lets just jack up the price. They'll pay for a modded car" how stupid. i wish civic ceo people would read this website. i think they'd really see what their customers like and dont like, instead of assuming.
I sure wish my car was newer

The average Civic buyer is ~38 years old. The majority of Civic drivers do not modify their cars, and if they do, it's putting a CD player in the place of a tape deck. We are the minority. The FP edition is a joke to us, but to the average Civic buyer, it's a way to feel sporty without spending a ton of money.
it is expensive, but number one you can finance the added costs, number 2 it all comes with a warranty, and number three everyone and their cousin around here has a stock rsx-s, this is a chance to own a somewhat unique vehicle.
Note that I would NEVER pay this much for a civic, but I can understand the allure this package will have for the less technically inclined person....

Not when you count in the extra insurance for an RSX-S. Some insurance companies have the RSX-S in the same bracket as a Corvette, and we all know that isn't cheap.
PLUS... the people who would consider buying an FP Edition Civic probably aren't DIY-type modders, so you have to count the extra money they'd spend on having those parts installed. For them, it's cheaper.

lol, yeah, they do get a pretty shiny penny or two for the hotter cars.^^ I'm up for that idea.
Do the classic, too much for that kinda money thing and pretend to walk out and stuff to really see what their offer really is.

I wouldn't pay that price for a Civic, but someone else, who most likely doesn't know about this site, will. And the dealers are counting on that. It does look much, much better than a stock RSX.
It's not a totally redesigned Civic, but it's new. New as in 'just came out' So of course dealers will jack the price up. You think they still sell 2001 EXs for the same price now as they did back when they were new in 2000?
Wait next year when they start showing up like crazy after the dealerships start their year-end clearances. Even the RSX was priced thousands more a few years back. Thats how it is in the market. Something new comes out and people want it, so sellers take advantage of that. Its business
I think the kitted-out 7.5 gens are awesome looking. But wiout a kit, I only like the front bumper (not the headlights or grill)

So what happened to the FP package that was available for the RSXs? Did we all forget about that?
[edit] Sorry kjgracing, forgot that Acura renamed it the "Aspec" package. [/edit]

It's a real package available through Acura dealers. Only downside is that you have to get either the whole FP package, or none of it at all.
I like the fact that Acura is doing something similar with the JR superchargers. Sure, you'll pay a mint to have them install it, but the engine will still retain its warranty through them if you go that route.

I saw a red 2004 FP civic at my dealership (not mine, just in my town) and it was really nice looking, BUT, they actually wanted 23,995 for it! How crazy? I got my 2003 EX brand new in January of this year for 15,900. So basically they want 8k for a body kit, some springs, wheels, tires, and a new shift ****. Did I leave anything out? That's just plain gay.

The factory Peformance kit has been around for months now its just filtering into areas now. It look sweet having the body kit and lowering springs from the factory but not worth the price.
