i just traded in my 03 civic with intake and exhaust for an 02 base model rsx....i've heard a lot of people say they can smoke an rsx with there vic, but unless you got boost, your gettin beat. i loved my vic to death, im just tired of people tryin to downplay the rsx(even if its base model) , that thing is a whole lot faster than a civic. i've read peoples post, and they are ridiculous, **** like...slow throttle response, slow car, too heavy, and just stupid **** to hate on an rsx....but the fact is that civics and acuras are not on the same level...ok....im done

If you have auto, I'll bet you a 5spd Ex could take you. Not by a lot but it could take you. My friend smoked a base auto rsx, and he's got a beat up 91 integra ls (non vtec) with 200 thousand miles. Oh, by the way, I raced his integra, and took him by 1 1/2 - 2 cars. No B.S.

seriously, I did beat a RSX with my 1.7el...before I just wanna try to see how much far from a RSX but curiously,but the result is, I "truely" can beat him...from now on I still asking the 200hp ivtec is it valuable...or our 127hp sohc with some modifications really close to the speed of RSX....but honestly, I still thinking our car is slow, and less potient...-.-
Was like 135 to the wheels with comptech exhaust and AEM sri. I think the sri was part of the problem..

maybe they were talking bout the si?
which shares the same engine as the base rsx, and considering all si's are manuals i'm sure they would have no problem smokin a auto base rsx.

Anyone who says a stock Civic will beat a stock RSX of ANY kind is full of it. . . . really, even with more parasitic loss in an RSX with an auto, there's still going to be more power going to the wheels than the Civic will have. And weight differences are nearly neglegible.
I think the Civic owner(s) who said that was just bored and looking for something to post.

Rep Power: 812 I think the last time I checked the vic only had 100whp. That's pretty slow, and I'm sure the RSX is faster than that. I've been in both, so I know. RSX is definately faster.

It all boils down to, who's driving the car, how much it weighs, and how much power it has.
If the drivers are of the same skill, then the car with the better power to weight ratio will win... I don't know why there always has to be the "can this car beat such and such car..." DOES IT REALLY MATTER????

uhmm ... nope, a stock civic can't touch a stock rsx base...
I'm sure a fully modded civic can take a stock rsx 5 speed though ... like i/h/e, no cat ...

The reason for this is that it has a better power to weight RATIO, THEREFOR there is NO way a Driver of a civic will beat a driver of equal skill driving an RSX! THAT'S IT! Everyday someone has to say "Can my civic beat a twin turbo ferrari?" Well, YES, if the driver of the ferrari is in a COMA!! The best way to find out, is go to www.edmunds.com and look up the HP and weight of the cars you would like to compare and THEN divide the HP by the Weight, The car with the Bigger Number means that IT WILL WIN! (basically... sometimes the way a car is geared will make this not the case...)This should work for ANY CAR... Now I KNOW FOR GOD DAMN SURE you're not talking about REAL racing like Autocrossing or Track racing. Only in reference to Autocrossing or road racing is it not this cut and dry.

HP/W is not accurate in this situation IMO, If we talk about 0-60MPH is another story, RSX 0-60MPH is 6.1 sec, 1.7el(same as 7thgencivic) is 8.5sec, the 2.4 second is easy to overcome with some modification, as well as ivtec is straight motion but we are not, I am not saying that RSX can not beat us but hard and have to take a really long run, in other words, if we hard to feel the vtec kick in, RSX is more worst as I can say that. That is not all in my opinion I have a prove from some professional racers in HK(Micheal Lui).
By the way some of my friend has a civic hatchback 0-60MPH only 4 sec, they are all talking about how to squeeze the speed in 1/4 mile, every mod they did, take to dyno and see how much gain they have, so if say 2.4 sec different...not a hard job to do with it thou.

if your talkin HP numbers and weight, a base RSX will take a civic any day, unless it is a civic Si. I drive an 02 Si and have smoked every base RSX i have ever came across. the Si will also take a type S off the line...call me crazy or BS me but its true...the type S has the same 1/4 mile time as the Si. I've never raced a type S before, so i cant speak from experience, but numbers dont lie.

Dragracing a production based car and winning is simplly a matter of $$$$. if person A has more $$$ then person B then most likely Person A will have the faster car. so winning at drag racing is just proving who spent more on their car. Do I care that some one had more $$$ when they went looking for a new car then me? No. Do I care that if you lined up next to me and we raced you would out accelerate me? no. Do I care that if we got in to some twisty roads and you couldnt keep up with me? YUP! because thats Personal skill. and the size of your wallet dont mean squat there.

his was auto, mine was standard
past 120 he's got way more power, just raw hp ownz me, but to 120 RSX non-S can't shake a stick to the base 'vic

I agree. I say....a car is a car. People worry too much on rather one car will beat another. Just because one guy in an RSX beats a civic, doesnt automatically mean they can beat all Civics. You have to look at who's driving the car and how well they are..theres too much to look at. But.. I have better things to do then see If my civic will beat an RSX
