**** I wish I paid as much as some of you, my insurance is $580 a month, I also have had 4 accidents, and have over 15 tickets on my record, have had my license suspended once and soon to be twice on Nov. 1, it sucks but it is on my parents insurance so I only pay $200 a month, they split it with me. I checked to see how much it would cost by myself and I would have to put down $800 and then pay about $750 a month.

Yeah, its funny... When I got rid of my WRX wagon and stepped down to the Civic to make sure I could finish school without worrying about a job, my insurance actually went UP...

Luckily, I save on gas (using regular instead of premium and getting about 50% more mpg).

The WRX is quite reasonable to insure, and the real kicker is how fast one can make a WRX while still paying those "reasonable" rates...

Reasons for higher insurance on the Civic

1) Higher theft rate
2) Lack of ABS (LX)

according to my agent.

Sure makes it tempting to pick up another WRX wagon in the future and do some cool stuff to it (EJ257, hehe)... Actually, about 3 of the local guys here have EJ257s + 6spds + BIG turbos in their "regular" WRXs... Those that didn't invest as much stripped their cars back to stock and have upgrade to STis...

I actually have a chance to check on out this weekend that belongs to a buddy. I'm looking forward to it.

BTW, what color did you get?

Oh yeah, and my Honda costs 429 for 6 mos of 100/300... The Subie was 367 for the same coverage -- clean record, no accidents or tickets.

Nope. . . four doors, less comprehensive than the Civic because it's a Subbie and not a Honda. And your average Subbie driver is more experienced and cautious on the road than your average Civic driver. It's all about statistics of the cars and the drivers who typically own them. . . . . as well as the company you use. I'm with USAA.

Incidently, I got a quote for the 350Z (when I was still considering one) and it came up with pretty much the exact same premiums. . . give or take a dollar a month.

Car: Honda Civic EX (2003) Coupe
Insurance: I think it is $600 for 3 months.
Accidents: None
Tickets: One Speeding, but i think that didn't go to the insurance.

The insurance company was nice enough to consider my car as honda civic dx sedan to lower the price a little bit.

Insurance is under my mom's name and mine. I was wondering, if im the only one driving the car, can i just have my mom's name on it instead? She sometimes drives it but i mostly do. Because i dont know if something happens insurance wont cover it if im not on the insurance.....

If you can get your insurance company to insure the Civic as an "extra vehicle" and you're still on the policy, then you're still covered in an accident. And it'll probably be cheaper.

If you have your Mom and your name under the insurance and you kill someone with your car (if. not saying you would.), your mom + you will pay whatever that person's family sued for. This might lead to selling your house, etc.

If there is only your name on the insurance, your mom will not be involved in this and only you will pay for whatever that person's family sued for. If you can't pay, they CAN'T make your parents sell the house to get the $.

The -ve is that you might go to jail instead of paying whatever that person's family sued for. (but your family will not be affected economically.)

Man I am 21 yrs old, it sucks, bye the way my dad told me the other day it is $620 a month, it went up again. I really havent had a really bad ticket, I have had about 6 or 7 speeding tickets, the worst one out of those I was going 95 in a 50 and I sat in jail for a night for that, and had to pay $350. I have had a few running red lights and stop signs, usually I just run them and there will happen to be a cop sitting on the side street or will happen to see me. Also I have had about 4 accidents in my old car which happen to be all my fault, but it does suck, I wish I could change it because I hate having to pay 200 a month when I could be paying about 50 like alot of my friends. my insurance company dosent cancel me because they like just raising are rate. OH well, what can I do.

OMG, I cannot believe you are still allowed (by your parents and by the state) to operate a motor vehicle. You obviously have no self control, no driving skill, and no common sense.

You could maim or kill someone. Hopefully when you do, it is just yourself. If I ever saw you driving recklessly like you brag about here, I'd punch you right in the face.

And if I ever met your parents, I'd slap the $*#@ out of both of them for allowing you to be such an A-Hole on the road.

I pay $1123 every 6 months. I'm 22 and this has been the same rate ever since I got the car. Well it was originally $1200 and that was with a mostly clean record. The DMV didn't have any points on my record last time I checked. So far I'm lucky. I have gotten 4 tickets or so in my civic, with 2-3 speeding tickets (can't remember), one aggressive driving but I plea bargained it down to reckless driving , and recently one improper start ticket. But as far as I know the insurance company doesn't know about any of these, and I won't tell them until they ask.
