I am not familiar with SEMA, why do you have to be invited or whatever? Also, how do you get to go. thanks alot. I know it's probably a dumb question, but I really don't know.

damn dude.. i've been trying to get into sema also.. sad thing is, i live in vegas. i have a few local hopefuls, but not much other... i tried to get in last year, but to no avail..
from what i know, you have to be affiliated with cars in some manner, whether it be a team, or you work for a shop/dealership/car comany of some sort.. i have half a mind to PM derek and see if we can use 7thgencivic.com as our 'car affiliation' (because there's a big "sema member" sign on the front page)...

haha wow I live in vegas and have gotten in every year for the past three years...find a hook up and get in that way...I use my cousins...they work for computer companies in the bay area, and they get me a distributor pass every year...so the guys at the booths think I'm some kinda baller haha...well...good luck finding someone...I think you can buy a visitors pass for like two hundred bucks or something tho....
The past few years, I've seen the public in there with visitor's passes, so I don't think you absolutely have to be invited. I know guys that were paying upwards of a few hundred bucks for tickets though...just find someone who can get you a pass saying that you're a distributor

i tried to get in last year, and they said the only way to get in was if i worked for a company that was linked to the automotive world, or if i found the dude i was talking to walking up to the ticket booth... the lady at the register (as well as the guy there also) said that if they had the power to do so, they'd let me in, but they couldnt.. so, with that said, can someone get me in?
They gave you a line of bs. Every year that I"ve gone I've seriously seen people with the pass like what we wear, but instead of "distributor" and a company name, it says "visitor." I'm not sure what you need to do to get it, but they DO exist. I do know however that they're limited in number.
By the way if someone can get you in, it shouldn't cost you anything, because the distributors get these passes at next to nothing...it's the money they spend there that keeps SEMA going every year.

Every booth that is registered usually can bring in quite a few people (workers). For example we will have 11 people at our booth this year. They only print so many passes with company names and the rest of the people are just given "Guest" passes. If you have a booth, all you need to get in is some kind of proof that you work for that company, such as a business card. Even if its just a generic business card with no specific name on it will work. We do not have to pay to get any specific person in is because we paid over ten grand for our booth already and we paid even more to SEMA affiliated companies to setup the booth and such. So in a way, we did pay, a lot. We also receive several car spaces outside the convention hall, and we have a few people who are paying us a sizable sum of money to have their car displayed there since we are not bringing any cars.
