120 mph then disaster strikes

I'm always worried about me getting into an accident because I'm a young driver but 90% of the time it's other people's fault because they made really really less educated decisions.

I drive in excess of 100mph daily (when traffic allows of course) and therefore controlling my car at said speeds is no problem. Just because you're incapable of driving a certain speed doesn't mean everyone else is too.

Of course I would never condone driving in excess of the speed limit. That would be wrong.

I love speeding but only when i'm on the road alone. My 01 civic auto lx took me to about 120mph and that was after like 5 minutes from 60 haha
I miss it's style. Anyhow, the type s seems to handle pretty similar at thoes speeds. I took it to 140 but chickened out since i was getting really close to speed traps. I only do this stuff early morning when you can clearly see whats ahead of you and not 100% depending on your headlights. Your headlights are worthless going past 100 at night unless you've got hid's with projectors and fogs. Dont want to outdrive your headlights and find a tire in the middle of the road when you're at thoes speeds. I turn my highbeams on since its in a separate housing

Also, speeding/weaving in traffic is incredibly stupid because there are other drivers on the road who dont pay attention (like no blinker lane changes) which can be then end of you, your ride and everyone else around you.

So why don't I cry about it? Well, I don't plan on doing that now. But, you know, if a neon tube flew off your car at 120mhp and went through my mom's windshield and killed her, I'd probably cry. My point is that you have no respect for other people. I don't know how old you are, but I'm kind of hoping you're younger than I am. At least then maybe you aren't totally set in your ways.
Next, can I handle speed? Well, I've hit the gov'nr in my car before at 127-8 mph before. You wanna know the difference? It was on a back road that my friends and I CLOSED OFF. We physically blocked off the only two ways to get on the road so no one besides ourselves would get hurt. When I talk about being responsible, I don't mean you can't do stupid things - because I've done equally stupid things. The difference is that when I do them, I make sure there is no chance of anyone unrelated to what we're doing can get hurt.
Oh, by the way - don't tell me I don't know how to drive. I learned from my dad, who spent 20 years in Europe. He's maxed out his 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS on the Autobahn. Hell, he's even drafted on the Autobahn. That's all aside from the 15+ times he toured Europe on his BMW touring motorcycle, and all the amateur racing he did. I learned every last one of his tricks and traits, and with the exception of heel-n-toe shifting (which I can't do due to the size of my feet - 14) I can execute them.
...And as far as people driving slow and causing more accidents; while slow drivers MAY cause more accidents, you have to look at the severity of the accidents. If slow drivers cause 1,000,000 scratches every year, and fast drivers cause 500,000 deaths, then the slow drivers cause more accidents - hands down. In the end though, I'd rather have a scratch on my bumper than be six feet below the ground.
Also, speedinaway, don't tell people you're all go and no show when you have MR7s on your car. The last time I checked, they weren't a performance part. I don't remember Kenwood HUs adding any performance, either.
as for the person who said i was stupid for mentioning the z06: that wasn't what it topped out in 2nd, i just didn't go any farther. and just because your hatch can (supposedly), doesn't mean all cars can.
and as for the person saying that i am naive: i managed to make my point without calling anyone stupid or naive, so screw you both.
and as for the person saying that i am naive: i managed to make my point without calling anyone stupid or naive, so screw you both.
just because you're daddy can afford porsches, doesn't mean that everyones' can. i got my wheels cheap, used i might add, from a friend. as for the hu, i got it from my brother, also free, and got an upgraded model as an insurance settlement after someone borke in and stole my first. unlike you, i'm guessing, i can't afford gas, let alone performance parts, so i go as fast as my stock unit allows. i can be all go, or at least support that, instead of all the 2f2f body kit stupidity that seems so popular. also, you seem a little defensive, maybe you should chill and smoke one or something.
ok the speed is not stupid. I live in Germany where there are some parts of the autobahn that are not speed regulated. The cars however are made for that type of speed. The drivers are very defensive (not ignorant) not to say that you are. They also don't get there liscence by paying 10-20 dollars and taking a silly test. They go through school and pay thousands of dollars. What's my point, hell I don't know, speed isn't the reason, it's the person that makes that decision that is the reason.
And Damn my govenor kicks on at 115mph. Sorry about the remark then.

I gotta add my bit to this.....
I speed. Everywhere I go I speed. Also everyone in Southern cali speeds for the most part.
BUt I don't go more then 80, for the most part. Sometimes if it is late at night I'll floor it and wont look back, but out of all this I see a few stupid things....
1. Breeze had the crappy neon light on his car...you do that you cant go fast and you found out why...
2. Breeze and some other members seem to lack any respect for people being on the road with them, as well as people criticisizing them.
3. Everyone here assumes they are the best drivers on the road, our basis for judgment is highly biased and despite your dad being an ametuer racer your ability to drive your car falls on your own ability to learn how to control your vehicle. Not saying you cant control it but a good driver knows how to control their car in all ways of movement and at any speed...know your cars and your own limits. some people are comfy going 120+ others are not. It is dependant on where you live and your own comfort levels.
I don't condone speeding at 120+ on non-track conditions but I have a couple times pushed my car to the governor limits....

speeding to that extent is stupid, but i think most of us have done so. the only times i have sped like that was 1) [125mph] driving home from the drag races at the local speedway at like 2 in the morning, so there were no other cars around, 2) [131 mph] me and my friend videotaping us being dumbasses on the road, again up by the speedway, where there is a big *** 5+ mile straightaway where there was no one on the road, and again at like 1:30 in the morning, and 3) [120 mph] the stupidest time, me rushing home in the rain in cali, but with little/no traffic, and me staying in the same lane the whole time, and it was only for not even 30 seconds...
hell, i speed everywhere i go, but usually never 20+ over. i got pulled over by an under cover cop going 90 on the las vegas beltway (a small 2-3 lane freeway kinda thing that wraps around vegas) where the speed limit is 55. the cop told me i was goin too fast,a dnt aht he would have let 75 go without pulling him over, but that was pushing it. he let me go with a warning.
there's my 2¢

im sorry but i just gotta say it... yes.. yes you are a total f ucking idiot.
In the smallish town I have lived in (about 10,000 total people), I know of 4 accidents ending in death (over the past two years, while I have only lived here for 8 months) where an old person was driving on the wrong side of the road; this happened twice, one time it was a group of 5 girls coming back from their softball game two years ago when an old person swerved onto the wrong side of the road cause they fell werent paying attention and killed ALL 5 on the spot. The other time it was a girl who had just got a new car from her parents and her dad was driving behind her when an old person swerved onto the wrong side of the road hit the girl frontal impact and killed her, this all happening RIGHT IN front of the dad (hes got to be screwed for life now after seeing that). Then, another where an old lady hit my friends mom who was put in a coma (dying a week later) one time it was my friends mom one time it was my friends mom who was directing traffic as a volunteer when an old lady who had so bad of vision she couldnt even see her, she ran her over, put her in a coma and his mom died a week later leaving behind a son 15 and daughter 13.
Old people should not be allowed to drive unless they have passed a test including vision test...they should have to retake a drivers test because they have the sh!ttiest driving habits and are the most poorly defensive (they try and drive slow thinking it will be safer, but it isnt at all, people going the speed limit who arent paying attn, cause they should be dont really have to be, have to swerve or hit the person.
BTW, in MI the speed limit is 70 which means you can go just below 80 and won't be pulled over, I am used to driving 90, it aint dangerous at all after the first time because you get used to your car and surroundings. I got a ticket going 97, in the middle of nowhere on the freeway, I didnt even realize that I was going that fast until I saw a cop in my rearview mirror, luckily he didnt get me when I was going 110 around curves on the freeway (and yes it was safe, the curves were not sharp). That has slowed me down, only because I am 17 and insurance in Michigan is a bitch compared to Wisconsin (where I lived before). BTW, watch out if youre ever driving through WI, they are crazy about speeding, they use it as a huge money making enterprise so they will pull over anyone cause they are f*cking **** ***** pigs (most of them, but not all).

Wow...I should have checked this thread more often. My whole point was to say let he who has never sped call the speeder an idiot. I'm not saying 120 is a good idea. But we have all done stupid things in our lives. I have often said (and still believe this) that I feel safer riding with someone who is speeding than someone doing the speed limit. At least I know the speeder is paying attention. Most accidents on the autobahn are caused by people goin slower rather than faster. As for the old people comments in this thread..lets start a new thread about older drivers. Have fun, be safe. And stop flaming pointlessley.

Heh - hey, if he wants to do over 100MPH, than let him. Either way if the cops catch him he's screwed. Last time I checked, going over 100 is a felony, and so is killing someone. Either way, its time for "federal pound me up the ***" prision!
Our highways are usualy pretty safe to speed on. I just keep pace with traffic. But when the cars in my lane go faster than 130kph I move over a lane or two. Once on the Gardiner Expressway, I was doing 150kph and I was passing NOBODY! So I tried to keep up so I didnt become an obstical. Cops will only nail you if you stand out from the crowd.
So doing 130MPH when others are doing 60-80MPH is down right stupid. It doesnt take much for an accident to happen. Even Colin McRae has accidents you know. And when it happens, its usualy horrific
