hows ur clutch?
i drove an rsx today.. and i noticed that the clutch pedal was significantly stiffer than on my civic...
so... my question to you is, is your clutch pedal buttery soft? or does it take some effort to press it?

Civic's have very soft clutches compared to other cars. I can figure 2 reasons for this,
1.) They were designed that way...
2.) They don't have to put as much pressure on the flywheel since we're not putting out that much HP, therefor it's easier to push down on. Also we have pnumatic clutch...
I've drived a Misto Eclipse, Much harder clutch, old toyota pickup, VERY hard clutch, 540I, not as hard as the toyota, be harder than the mitsu, and lastly a scoobyru impreza 2.5rs, which was somewhere between the eclipse and the civic.

The only basis for comparison I have is my dad's BMW... and BMW clutches are on the stiff side of things. So of course the Civic feels whimpy. The stiffest clutch I think I ever played around with was the WRX one.
My clutch is really soft. It's even noticibly softer than my '99 Civic. My theory as to why Honda makes the clutch so soft is for user-friendliness. Remember, Civic's aren't performance vehicles, they are econo-boxes.
yes our cars have a very, very soft clutch, going back to what others said, honda did this purposly, cause our cars are economical, not performance. If you want to see a hard clutch go find an old mustang, you could get some with a 10 lb. clutch for the horsepower. I believe that these are some of the stiffest out there, nothing compared to a WRX.

I meant Hydrolic, I always confuse the 2... Pnumatic and Hydrolic are very similar... one uses compressed air, the other a compressed liquid... and YES, I DO HAVE A TURBO NOS CLUTCH....

My dad has a VW GLI and the clutch on that is a lot stiffer than the manual Civics I've been in. The stiffest clutch I've ever felt was in a Boxster my friend was thinking about buying. It was slightly modded, but I'm not sure if its clutch was like that stock or if it was aftermarket.
