Thumbs down Civic has no power

its sad how much behind the civic is falling behind in power
examples:
Rsx/ Rsx Type-S = 160-200 hp
Rx-8 = 197-238 hp
Accord Coupe = 160-240 hp
Sentra SE & SE-R Spec-V = 165-175 hp
Matrix XRS = 180 hp
Celica Gt & GT-S =140-180 hp
etc.
------------------
Those are all stock engines too
Dont get me wrong I Love my 2003 Civic Coupe EX I like the look but its only a stock SOHC VTEC with only 127 Hp @ 6300 rpm...
but if i every pulled up side by side with one of those cars I gunna get toasted....
and its cost to much to do a swap for a decent engine.... the coupe should just come with a good stock enigne like those cars....

the only decent coupe is the SiR with only a 160 Hp I-vtec but its UGLY!!!!! The Ex,Dx, Lx etc look way nicer I think...

what do you guys think?

oh yea is it possible for a accord coupe engine(v6) to be swapped into a Civic Ex?

Umm the only cars that you compared the civic to that are actually in the same class as the civic are the celica and sentra. How can you compare a civic to an accord in terms of power and value from a consumer standpoint? I mean the accord is "Honda's flagship." How could you compare it with an RX-8? Come on now, do you think S2000 owners go comparing their rides with ferrari's? Be happy with what you have...you got a decent car for an affordable price that gets good gas mileage and looks good while you cruise. Do you drive everywhere on redline and 20 mph over the posted speed limit? If you do you need to be shot, and anyways you probably don't. Just enjoy your car. Be happy you don't drive something from beaterz.com.

By the way you're never gonna get that accord V6 engine into your engine bay. Search and you'll find the feasible swaps.

Yeah. . are cars lack some power, but for their class they are fine . You're not comparing the same class of vehicles here. . We are with the Focus, Escort, Cavalier, Neon, Corolla, stuff like that. . not with the vtec beasts, the Toyota swiftness, the V6 power plants, the Rotary hardass or the Nissan price/hp ratio. . So of course we aren't going to hold up. . Maybe we are with the Celica, but even then, that car is made to pump out some horsies. We are here to conserve fuel.

Agreed. Why does everyone think that drag racing is the only way to go? It doesnt as much skill to go fast in a straight line. I have beaten Vettes, lexus, tons of mustangs, eclipses, etc etc... But only when the road gets twisty. Granted most of those cars could actually take me even in the twistys with the right driver. But thats the whole point. I would rather show you I can drive better than you then show you I paid for a bigger engine than you. Just my opinion. BTW...last I checked I could do 125mph in the vic...according to the state police thats not slow

Too True. Stop trying to drag people. By the time you have the power setup to beat one of the cars you listed, you will have spent just as much money as if you had purchased one of those cars and put some mild mods on them. Red Light Racing will get you every time, take it to an autocross or road course. Civics are light, handle well with the right suspension mods and wider/stickier tires, and will own some of the higher horsepower cars out there depending on the driver's skill. Horsepower isn't everything, it just more important in Drag racing.

Yeah right when comparing price i paid $13,00 for my civic lx i pay another $3,000 for an sfpower kit and $200 for custom 2 1/2 exahust that puts the grand total to $16,200 and you are @ 13.6 like Catalyst that is corvette teretory and you are saving like $40,000

If you do the work yourself. Then you get replace the tranny when it finally breaks down cause it was not designed to handle the additional horsepower, same with the engine internals. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea to Turbo'ing a 'vic. It would be interesting to hear long term mechanical problems due to engine and tranny stress.

I been driving Turbo'd honda's since high school. Havent had any tranny or engine problems that werent my own damn fault.

I broke a few motors, but that was because #1 i launched and broke all 4 motor mounts and put my turbo through the radiator, then drove it the 20 miles home without any coolant. #2 i ran 20 psi of boost on pump gas with the timing advanved. Then #3 i didnt tighten the water lines on my air-water intercooler and it ended up blowing a head gasket due to high intake air temps.

We also have cars out there that have had our kit for 3-4 years, and never had any problems. The Honda engines are de-tuned sooo much that they can handle quite a bit more power than they make stock.

As mentioned the cars that you mentioned are not in the same catagory. A Civic is not designed for drag racing to begin with. But you can take it to the drag strip if you want, you should try an autocross course it is more complicated and requires good concentration with driver skill, now a Civic will handle better on a autocross course. I went to a autocross running stock and the car handled pretty good, once i get better suspension mods I will see how much improvement I will get in terms of handling.

Oh yeah, this is a stupid post. Since when were Civics mid-sized economy/sport compacts? You better MAKE that lightweight go faster. That's why it's a Civic.

It gets so annoying that people don't even know WTF a Civic is. Power? Sporty? WTF you think the aftermarket is for?
