This might sound dumb but here goes. If you swap a motor into your vic ie K20 whatever, will the insurance company insure it as a civic/ Honda or RSX/Acura ??? What about the insurance rate cause a RSX is a bit more than a civic?? Just some thing I have been thinking about.
I think its a dont ask dont tell type thing, as long as an insurance company doesnt find out, it shouldnt make a difference...
Just dont get into an accident where an adjuster or body shop would find out I guess...

Agree - if it looks like a Civic, it's a Civic to the insurance company. When the EVOs came out, many people got them insured as regular Lancers because EVO VIIIs weren't on the books (because they're so rare.)
Disagree - If I had a Civic that had $40,000 worth of parts in it, I'd make sure I was ensured for that worth instead of $18,000. Yes, you'll pay more each month, but if you get in an accident, you'd be royally screwed.
Don't drink and post, you will end up hilarious.

I'd keep my mouth shut and not get in an accident EVAR!!!
If you don't tell them and you get in an accident, and they find out your car is heavily modified they will drop you or raise your rates. If your car is totaled theres a good chance you'll be giving the Blue Book value of a stock civic of the same year. Although I'd keep close records of ALL the things you do to your car, cause sometimes if your cars totaled you can come out an say "I had $10,000 worth of aftermarket parts" and they MIGHT cover the parts.
If you tell them your rates will go up or they will choose not to insure you anymore.

You've got to look at the average buyer of Cavys and the average buyer of a sedan (it's not an H4 turbo'd AWD rally car to them - it's a sedan.)
Cavy - ricers, punks, ditzy girls, grandmas.
Family Sedan - dads.
Which sounds more dangerous to you when put in those terms? For some reason, that's how a lot of insurance companies think.
Also, people tend to take care of $25,000 sedans more than $10,000 coupes.
