Why do people drive like freaking idiots? (MaD TyTE DrIViNg StYLZZZZZZZZ)

I was going to draw my own pictures to illustrate, but I think these that I found at riceboypage pretty much convey my point.

Why do people do the following:

1. Lean way too far back when they drive. I swear some people have their seats touching the back seat while they're driving. Wtf? It looks freaking ghey. Why not just remove the driver's seat and sit in the freaking rear seat while your drive? Do people think they're all "tough" and "thugish" driving like this? It looks stupid as ****.

^ Most people I see doing it actually lean back farther than that.

2. Lean toward the middle of the car. Wtf? Are they trying to pretend like they're driving a McLaren F-1 and they're sitting in the middle? This is probably even stupider than the one above. When I was at a light today some tool pulled up behind me and I looked in my rearview mirror and he was leaning over into the middle of the car He had a stupid *** thug look on his face like the Icy Hot Stuntaz or something. Why the **** would you sit like this? It looks so ghey it's unbelievable. If you ever see someone like this from the back, it looks like this:

^ Oh man I can't believe how stupid that is. Have fun getting in an accident and getting your face smashed open cuz the airbag missed you cuz your dumbass was trying to look all tough and cool by leaning towards the middle.

edit: It's not just riceboys that drive this way. I've seen tons of different types of people do it in a huge variety of cars.

There's nothing wrong with that if it's comfortable. You can put your seat wherever you want. I'm just making fun of the people who put their seat as far back as it can go, forgoing comfort in order to try and give off some image.

Sometimes in traffic I like to lean against a side of the chair. you know how there's a bulge at each side? Feels good on the back, IMO. I never purposely try to lean over the center console.

But maybe they're leaning on an armrest lol

Maybe you should buy everone racing seats, so we'd all be sitting snug and tight.

At a stoplight some chicks in their celica were leaned far back just like your picture! they looked like they were watching the sky through the sunroof or something.

I hate how people stick their left arm out the window. "ooh yeah. I'm cool in my cobra.... thats an automatic!"

Oh **** man. Reading all that was just plain funny. You're gonna have an Anurism (sp?) by the age of 30 man. You should really stop worrying about what other people are doing. Especially after reading about the other drivers, I had a vision of how you drive. All perfect, straight upright, hands at 10 and 2. Oh man. This was too funny.

The only people I see driving like this are wannabe gangstaz who think it makes them look like they represent. If I am not mistaken, there was originally a purpose for this kind of posture... to keep yourself less visable (police and other gangs cant see ya) and to keep you protected somewhat by the door in case of being shot at.

I don't think that there are many if any at all "homos" who drive like that. Maybe you should rephrase it to say "Why do people drive like freaking gangsters?" or maybe "Why do people drive like freaking idiots?" or even "Why do people drive like freaking dummies?"

I rode with a guy the other day who had his seat allll the way back... I asked him if he really sits like that or whatever, and he says "naw, I sit like dis" and is basicly holding himself up witht the steering wheel, i was thinking 'why the hell is your seat like that then!?!?'
stupid

sometimes I lean one way or the other, it seems that its usually towards the door, when I catch myself doing it I feel kinda dumb and I stop. Also I try not to drive with the one hand on top of the wheel, it always looks like people think they are tough when they do that too

Hmm... that actually makes sense. However, I wonder if the suburban white kids I see driving like that have a lot of people after them that are trying to shoot them?

I don't drive all upright like some prissy old woman, but at least if I did, I would be able to fully depress both pedals and have full range of motion with the wheel. If you must know, I have the seat at a comfortable place that allows me to best control the wheel and pedals. Hmm... that's the basis for seat placement, anyway. It's reclined a bit, but not excessively. I just look normal when I drive (I checked out my reflection in a building's windows... and you all have done it, too, so shut up )

I sit in my seat pretty straight, I only lean, when I'm turning, I'll let the side of my body slide into the side bolsters for support. I've seen people who act like they're in like a fighter jet or an F1 car or something like that and it just looks stupid

LOL...

if only the icey hot stunted losers could be here to give their thoughts on this.

anyhoo back to the subject at hand...

me, i sit in my seat at a comfortable angle. I was told when opentracking and autocrossing yu should be able to rest your wrists on the steering wheel with some slack in your arms, and reach the pedals when fully depressed without having to scoot forward in your seat. so i go by that, then recline a bit for comfort. best of both worlds for daily driving.

now if someone was shooting at me, or I thought they might, id just not be out driving. then again i dont see too much drive by activity in myneck of the woods. id be more apt to get hit with a rock from a lawn mower than a bullett.

I drive a lot with one arm out the window holding up my head and the other on the top of the wheel, normally out of boredom, not on highways though. I would like to have the seat a little further back but the b-pillar in the sedan becomes an obstruction after a certain distance. I never drive with my hands at 10 & 2, more like 8 & 4 to rest my arms or just one hand on the top. 10 & 2 just feels weird because it's a small car and you're hands are at an unnatural angle, 45*.

my headrest is paralel to the b pillar. _/ seat kinda like that, hand on the bottom of the wheel. I don't lean all the way back, like front seat touching the back seat. But i sit back further than normal. Not to be "gansta" but thats how i'm comfortable. I've driven like that sence i got my licence.

edit: like this to be exact.

i tend to lean towards the middle of the car simply because i rest my arm on the armrest. but my seat is almost completely forward, i cant stand being reclined too much. it feels like i cant see anything on the sides of my car.

There is a reason people lean to the middle of the car...they don't know the middle air vents are adjustable.

ever since I started autocrossing, I have 2 hands on the wheel, at 3 and 9 (10 and 2 doesn't give you as much control and leverage). From Racing, It just dosnt feel right to only have one hand on the wheel. as far as seat position, I sit pretty close to the wheel, Not as close as when I'm autocrossing but pretty close. My driving habits have completly changed ever since I started Racing.....

Yep, first thing they teach you at any good racing or driving school is 9 and 3 for your hand positions for the best control. Too bad my '03s wheel has the hand holds at about 10 and 2, as do most OEM wheels.
