Anybody else drive a Corrola?

Good lord its like driving a small Mini-van! I got like a 2003 Corolla CE as a rental since my '02 Si Coupe got rear ended Friday morning on the way to work But jeeze, the seating position is terrible, the seats are poofy and they dont slide back far enough, there is like a FOOT of room between my head and ceiling, the dash is very stubby and tall and vertical, and good god the ride hight and trunk and hood levels are so damn tall! I was sitting in my pals 91 SI Hatch next to my car and his roofline was comparable to the trunk level of the Corolla!

I am assuming the matrix is built on this freakishly tall compact.

But other than that, the car is a nice ladies/family car. Its quiet, smooth and surprisingly peppy for an automatic. The transmission shifts quickly and smoothly. There is surprisingly little body roll considering the ride quality. But the poor seating position grew very tired on me. You feel like your sitting in a van or pickup. The steering had not much feel to it and there seemed to be a strange centring spring effect. Alot of oddities in this car aswell. The dash lights are bluish white, but the console and radio lights all down the centre are GREEN. This is god awful. What were they thinking? Also, getting back into an Automatic is not fun for me. I can barely keep awake driving this car. The radio couldnt be viewed properly with my polarized shades on, a small annoyance. The doors sprung open with almost no effort. I will NEVER park next to one of these cars again. I am just imagining femals flinging their doors open without a care.

Honestly, I wouldnt take 2 of these over my Civic. Its good basic transportation but it seems to lack the refinement, fun and style of its competitors.

Just thought I'dd share

I don't like the pedals. My foot gets caught under the brake pedal when I try to take it off the gas sometimes. I don't even have big feet or anything, but I've noticed this on 2 different 02 Corrolas I've driven.

Speaking of foot snaggings, I had a '94 Grand Prix and that car was **** for mens feet. Your foot would hit the underneat of the dash all the time. I hated that. And there was no dead pedal. You had to rest your foot on curved carpeted wheel well. Non obstructed comfortable footwork is very important to me aswell. And I found that in the Civic. Very very very few cars in my pricerange offered the driving experience that the Civic Coupe did. Im so glad I bought what I did

I don't like anything about that car. Thank god I don't own one. A good friend of mine has one, and she loves it. I guess it's a great car for a chick, but I still think it looks really nasty.
