Not again.

This is just like asking who would win out of the Type S and the GS-R. Same **** different day. The better driver wins.

Why do you guys think the 99 one would win? Seriously, what makes the 99 Si better? Just because it revs to 8k with a little less torque than our EX Civics? Both cars with average or bad drivers do the same damn time which are high 15s and a bad driver will manage high 16s. Both beatable by any good driver in a 7th Gen Civic.

ummmmmmmmmmmmnope you guys are all wrong about this. the 99-00 si would and always does take the 02 si, im not knocking on the new si but the car was made too heavy anyone here that has driven both cars will know what i mean. the older si is a lot lighter and has a better power band i know for a fact that the new si has potential its just too domestic if you know what i mean............too much weight buts its a great car dont get me wrong but it cant beat the older si for what i believe that one simple fact its not a hatchback its a frigging mini mini van

The new Si is just under 100lbs heavier than the 99-00 Si which isn't a lot. The additional torque in the new Si makes up for the weight. Neither car dramatically outperforms the other in a straight line. You've got it twisted. What you're saying makes no sense.

And what do you mean it's too domestic? That's a Japanese car designed in Europe. lease:

99/00 si would take the new si if both were stock and equal driver.

I think people are only choosing the older one because:

Popularity
Coupe
More "attractive"
Or just plain don't know either cars and choose the one they like more instead of looking at the FACTS.

It's really a stupid question that overwhelmed the thread with uneducated answers. When other people look at this **** that don't know either cars they're gonna go with the "popular vote." It makes no ****ing sense. I hate to say it but it spreads stupidity. I bet nearly everyone who voted for the 99-00 Si voted for it because it redlines at 8k and the new one at 6.8k. I don't care if the car redlined at 15,000 RPMs, with it's lack of torque in stock form it can't take full advantage of it's powerband.

Now if you switched torque figures with both engines, I'd say the 99-00 Si has the advantage but a better driver can still beat it.

IT'S A ****ING DRIVER'S RACE! GAME OVER!

I own a 2000 Si, and have raced a few newer Si's. So far none have beaten me, and I am not try to brag. A car with similar figures its all based on the better driver. I've raced GSR's and beaten them and other cars that should have owned me but the drivers simply couldn't drive their car. There are to many desiding factors in a race to give a definative answer.

It all depends on the driver... I admit, I didn't like the way the new Si's looked, but then it grew on me.. I love my Papa Smurf... Here is some pics.. http://ephatch.com/forum/showthread....528#post184528

well..........................im a track racer and if you know anything about performance and racing you would know that cars are compared by their power to weight ratio youre right its a litlle under a 100 pound difference but that makes a lot on the street/strip same BHP 02 has a little more tq but the lighter car will get the jump and by the time the heavier car can reeally get moving well we know what happens then ever heard of weight reduction? i wonder why on earth would they do that? pounds make a huge difference believe it or not. and i say too domestic not because of where its from i know that i consider myself an enthusiassss........Ta! but just that honda designed it to be a bit bigger you know what i mean? like compare that 02 si to the older 91 si hatchback see the power to weight differentiation?

The 99-00 Si would win. Stock for stock, good driver against good driver, it's faster.
