My bad, the GX is the natural gas one, I've never heard of the VP before.

Yes the HX has the CVT tranny and Vtec. VP is the value package, but I am not sure what is included in that.

Add a few things:
DX- No sway bar, vtec or ABS, 14" wheels with caps.
LX - No ABS or vtec, 14" wheels with caps. Doorhandles, rear license trim and mirrors are painted.
EX - ABS, tweeters in sail panels, 15" alloy wheels
HX - e-vtec (economy vtec) 117hp. 14" Alloys. Cruise. Can get 5speed or auto CVT transmission. Not sure about power windows/locks. edmunds says the '03s have them. The '01s had locks but not p.windows I believe.

The HX ( 5 speed manual) has the tallest gearing out of all of them, followed by the DX and LX (have the same tranny, 5 speed manual) and last is the EX (5 speed manual)
Not sure about the autos
On another side note, the HX's 4th gear is Identacle to the EX's 5th gear. I've never raced another civic with the HX, but after 70 (redline 2nd gear btw) nothing much is going to happen.
