Honda making a V-8 engine. hummm!!
Honda is making a V8 engine for the 2oo5!!

Honda will take on the pickup market in its own fashion. The truck will be based on the same chassis as the Honda Pilot and Acura MDX sport utilities, which themselves were developed from car, not truck, platforms. Company officials who insisted on anonymity said that Honda intended to introduce its pickup in 2005. That is, after it figures out where to build the truck. The plants in the running are Alliston, Ontario, home to the Odyssey, the Pilot and the MDX; and Lincoln, Ala., where Honda is also building the Odyssey.
Honda will desing and produce a V-8 engine that many Americans consider the standard for heavy-duty trucks. So Honda seems likely to skirt one of the hottest segments of the vehicle market: very large, very powerful pickups. Demand for these trucks is soaring, partly because of fancy new interiors designed for affluent families. Leading the charge is the newest version of the Ford F-Series, the industry’s best-selling vehicle for the past three decades. But the imposing new Nissan Titan will be hot on its heels this fall, in buzz if not in sales volume, and Toyota is putting the finishing touches on a four-door version of the Tundra.
How long will these big pickups stay hot? If big S.U.V.s are any proof, the companies will get just a few good years out of them before they’ll have to slap on incentives to move the heavy metal. Last week, Edmunds.com said full-sized sport utilities were carrying the industry’s biggest rebates, with an average of more than $5,000 a vehicle.
Maybe Honda has the right idea by picking its pickup spot so carefully.

This is very interesting. Because the words "Honda" and "high torque" usually aren't mentioned in the same sentence. Will we finally see a stock Honda engine produce > 200 ft-lbs. of torque?
It's going to be real funny if the engine puts out around 160 ft-lbs. of torque, but produces around 240 hp at 7900 rpm.

anyways, i dont know how good this Honda Truck will be because it is based off of a car platform and not a truck platform. So its not TRUELY going to be a truck, so to speak. It is great to see Honda enter a new segment and hopefully leave its conservitive styling bubble. Who knows, we might be seeing AWD civics in maybe....8 years.
