i'm sure honda will do it right, for those saying that honda is not known for torque and what not. the low torque issue is mainly seen in there 4cyls, there V6 engines have a good amout of torque, and being that this will be there first V8, i'm sure it will make lots of torque at low RPM's.
i can see why honda is doing this, they are trying to compete with nissan and toyota, lets just see if they can pull it off.

You do know your on a civic forum.....right???Still its a Honda
As for the V8, i wouldn't get my hopes up guys. I doubt it will be a big V8 (i don't think it will go over 4 liters) Because of the displacement tax in japan it won't be extremely big.
But i wonder if it will be SOHC or DOHC and if/how it will use VTEC. And in an attempt to extract more power and torque out of the small V8 will we see a stock turbo honda? (aside from the jet ski) And can we put it in a civic
And honestly you only get one first impression. If your going into a new market go in with bang, don't half a$$ your first attempt, like your first truck being on a car platform, cause you don't wanna get off on the wrong foot. I really think if they made it on a brand new truck platfrom theyd do alot better on the market.
If I needed a truck I would possibly look into it, but for now the vic is fine by me.
I think honda will take a big risk trying to break into a new market. They are doing fine now.. but if they lost all that money on a failed vehichle.. not to mention a vehichle that will cost a good bit to make.. I don;t know if its gonna happen. I mean. Sure maybe it will be cool and nice and everything.. but honda is known for its long lasting engines.. I don't think any v8 is gonna hold up like the good ol' 4 cyl.. less engine less problem.
well i'll be damned, i never thought i'd see the day. honda truck and honda V8, its all too much.
i hope it's too big to fit in the civic, a civic with a V8 is just silly. it just isn't right. civics are light, hi-rev, handing cars, not straight line accelerators.
looks pretty hot, i dig it.

yes but can you amagine a v8 with Vtec and a 8000 rpm redline.....boosted...in a civic.....
hey!, viper BOY!!!....you wanna race against the Big Dawg!?!?!?!?.....
that would be awesome......
so what's the big deal? honda has been toying with a v8 for the longest time in their racing division. furthermore, i wouldn't get too excited because this might be a chevy engine dressed up as a honda - remember the partnership chevy had with honda regarding chevy using honda's fuel economy 4 bangers? i don't remember if it was chevy, but for sure it was an american company.
SAY WHAT SAY WHAT???????
edit: I love spoof sites.

After this deal in set into place expect to see a whole new line of cars from both manufacturers. The Honda Civic HX and LX is to get the Chevy 5.7 liter LS1 engine, the EX is going to get a VTEC variant of the LS1 and the Civic SI will share the LS6 out of the Corvette Z06 On Chevys end of the deal comes there 4 cylinder models. Nearly ever 4 cylinder in Chevy's lineup will recieve the F20C out of the Honda sportscar S2000
If all goes as planned, Chevy and Honda will blow by Ford and Dodge in upcomming performance tests

No you are not the only one. This "pick-up" (If you want to call it that) is based on a car plattaform. It goes to show you that it won't be a real pick-up. When I buy a pick-up it will be from the people that have been making them for decades; GM or Ford. Toyota also has the Trundra that its competing preatty good with GM and Ford. In a few years the Trundra will be another good truck to get but as of now I think that GM or Ford would be better.

nd the headlights look like they came from a 2.5 altima
what I want to see is Honda make a VTEC I-6.....now THAT would be sweet! to hell with V6s....
whoa V8, what ever happened to the ULEV thingy? all bout gas saving...
OT: the honda Z had a turbo... STOCK.
anyway, honda is making it, which sucks i think. parking the Pilots is bad enough, this will surely be a bitch to park...
and Naito, i'm with ya on that one bro. I-6's rule, especially for torque!

Exactly. "Its only a honda". IF chevy or even nissan announced a new pickup, it wouldnt be 3 pages long in 20 minutes. Everyone wouldnt be yelling "thats the most baddass car ever". We dont know anything about it besides a v8 car based pick-up. We dont know price, power, or size. It might be a civic sized pickup with a v8 with 200 hp/tq and that costs 30k. I personally have never been a fan of honda larger vehicles, I like their cars, civic, accord, s2000, but not anything else. Originally posted by EManEX

I hate to break it to honda, but pickups generally sell in two catagories- ridiculously fast pickups (think svt lightning) or powerhouse pickups for towing and construction work (think big diseals high torque pickups such as F-150. F-350 or GMC Sierra). The market for small pickups is fairly small. There are some out there, but they were more of a thing of the mid-90s.
Honda is jumping into a market they have no prior experience in. They have no reputation in the truck market.
there is only 1 pickup i would ever buy. the viper powered srt-10.

and for everyone who said "it's only a honda"....
You're abosolutely fucking right!

I think that honda shoud just stick with the 4 and 6 bangers and not even worry about the v-8 but it looks like it will be bad ***.
hehe you guys obviously don't know much about pickup trucks and their chasis dynamics.. (maybe I'm weird, but I like all kind of cars)
In my opinion, Honda WILL NOT do well with this truck, why? 2 words: TOWING CAPACITY
unibody trucks (those based on a car) have ridiculously low towing capacity in comparison to the body on chasis trucks (ladder chasis based trucks)
This is because the body panels (which is part of the chasis structure) cannot be subjected to a lot of stress and will flex under heavy load such as towing
hmm plus there's the issue of low torque in Honda engine (historically)
let's hope for the best and hopefully Honda can pull this off

ummm yeah.. so for like 10 years now, honda + mugen = racing V8s... been making v8's for a minute bro,. but the cars will NEVER see it... too much research in honda engine, they only will EVER need V6s unless they build big ol SUVs
Ehhh, if I liked trucks i would get it just cause its a Honda.
Now enough of this crap...lets talk about the swap capabilities!!!
I'll strap that ho3 in my trunk if it were possible, a civic V8...they wont know what hit em.
