The celica has allways been a good platform for racing (Road Race). Just like.....(Every ones gonna hate this)........ the Neon (The ACR comes to mind, I dont know about the SRT-4, FWD turbo tends to be a liability in the corners)!
There are a lot of cars out there that make decent Road race cars, yet are **** poor on the drag strip. At this point, from my experiance in autocross, I no longer look at the car in terms of weather or not the car is fast. I look at the driver.
I think this sums it up nicely

Apples have a skin that is edible while the skin of an orange is not. An apple is also one piece while an orange can be broken up into sections.
The cars they compare it to are stock cars. The Celica isn't stock. The Celica prolly costs as much or more as those cars after its mods.
I see numbers for performance, but how about a bottom line? It is a great performing car, but that says NOTHING about Celicas.
Hold on... when they say "stock engine," do they mean nothing has been done to it or that it hasn't been swapped? If that car has ONLY suspension mods... I'll kiss its tires.

That's done on a stock engine? Wow, impressive. I like the "full interior" part. I hate gutted interiors.
I never hated on the Celica ...but I still think it's a girl's car
The style looks so girly, I can't get over it. I generally don't like Toyota styling sans the IS300, so I just have that bias. Never said stuff like "Celica is slow" though.

I drove my friend's GTS the other day...I was really impressed with it's power and how it handled. I'm checking into getting one or a RSX Type S. I don't care what anyone says about the celica's, if it has the right kit and wheels...It's a badass looking car. Oh, and it kicks the **** out of my car when we race. All he has is a cold air intake and I have over $2,500 in my engine. Don't be haters

Celicas are good cars. One thing I didn't like is the fact that it's gearing makes it so you don't stay in "lift" (their version of vtec) when you shift gears.
I really like the GTS...It's a great, all around car. Plus, it has more room in it than everyone thinks. My friend is 6' 7" and he fits in it comfortably. The hatch has a lot of room in it also

Not too bad. .. I don't really hate Celica's much, but I don't think I would buy one, unless I got some kind of exceptional deal on one, just because I don't think you are getting much car for as much as they are asking for them. Anyways.. Good numbers there, the car does look like it would handle very well.
I'll eat it, but it's not going to be pretty later on. .

Doesnt matter that it's a chick car sometimes. The car had awesome brakes to begin with. There is extra power to found in that car (XS Engineering Turbo kit). VVTi-L is nice. But like S2000man says, the gearing doesnt allow the engine to stay above 6000RPMs. But that car I believe was built for handling, hence the weight reduction and smaller more technological engine and smaller chassis.
