no more VW Beetles

I read in my newspaper the last of the beetles have been made due to competition with other compact cars in its class. The last few will be sold in Mexico, Brazil, Great Britain and even...the US...ahhh well, ugly *** things did not stand a chance except with Reese witherspoon

Not the New Beetle (er... bubble). The old school ones. The beetles that could actually be called somewhat cool. Those bubbles will still be infesting Sorority house parking lots everywhere.

They said that on the news about a month ago or it might have been in a magazine or internet. But I knew about that awhile back. I think they are ugly as hell but could be fast as hell too.

I have family in mexico city and thats all there is over there. I heard there were protests in mexico when it was first announced that they were to stop production. Mainly because they needed a car at such a low sticker price. You could get a new one for about 7-8k.

I love the old bug.....I almost bought one for $100 when I was 17 years old...It had rusty floors, and was a semi automatic(stick with no clutch) but it ran really good, had over 110k miles, and would be excellent for a first car...My dad wouldnt let me get it though...Said it wasnt a safe car.....oh well...

I thought I heard that it was just the old school ones that were ending. Man, does anyone else have that "Nerds On Site" computer consulting company around them? These guys all drive around in Red Beetles with the same decal work on them. I saw a gathering once and there were like 25 of these things....Too funny!

Yes, just the OLD BEETLES are being discontinued. The NEW BEETLES will continue to be produced on the MKIV platform even after the new MKV Golf is released. Expect a minor facelift, though.

US won't sell those old ones here, those engines didn't meet the requirements back in the 70's nor do they meet them now. Can't even get permission to ship one over here. People have tried.

I own one of each of the Beetles (a '73 flat window 1.6l and a '00 1.8t) and I have to say that both of the cars are awesome. Where the old beetle lacks in power, it makes up for it in personality, I hate to see it go ...
