If so, this fall my car is gonna be traded in, just because I'm tired of having to turn off my AC on the uphills all over Walnut and Diamond Bar just to comfortably get over them.
Rumor has it that the car will be offered in the Fall of 2003 as a 2004 model, although American Honda has been tight-lipped about any such plans.

Its nice and all, but you know that so many people are gonna wanna buy them that they'll either be sold out before the first one gets here, or everyone and their grandma will be driving one.

well i didnt think it would happen either. although i went to yahoo auto's and it said 04 civic type r, but when u click on it, it just went to the honda lineup....and of course now they dont offer a choice of picking any 04's so i look like an ***
I'd hate to misshift in that car.. With the shifter up in that awkward position, it'd probably be too easy... Although, if they did bring it over, I'm sure we'd all have fun whenever they get totalled... Another driver loses his car, while we get his engine.. Heh heh..

I believe the rumor will stay a rumor..... because honda will loss too much money bringing the Type R civic over to america....
For one, they will need to mark up the price so high that no one will be willing to buy it, just because they are not willing to pay 25 plus for a "Civic"
Secondly, even if people are willing to buy it.... they will not sell enough units
my 2 cents

Guys I just made a call to a friend who is the sales manager of a Honda dealership and he said it is true the type r will be here but not until next year as part of the 2005 lineup and it will be between 21k and 24k. Honda is going to be having a big promotional thing about introducing the type r to the states. As soon as he gets any significant info he will let me know.

ill probably catch some **** for this but here goes. for me personally, i kinda like the idea of not having the type r here among others such as the skyline, etc.. it makes it that much better when someone actually has a real type r, or does the work to have the conversion done. granted, it wouldnt be that bad if the highly limit the number they brought over like they did the integra a few years back. i just think it would lose some of its alure if it was readily available. also, honda would be competing with itself if it brought over the type r. just my opinion

Who really gives a ****, there are far better cars out there than the Civic Hype R. There's no need in selling the powerplant of an overpriced Acura in a car that already doesn't appeal much to the market as an decent performance car more than it does to Type R enthusiasts.
