I think i'd get the GTS over an RSX-s tho. Toyota has a better reliability rating + usually have better mileage. Also the stock handling on the Celica GTS far surpasses that of the RSX-s. Acura/Hondas are own to have huge wheel gaps on their stock rides - much like my CL-S (comptech/konis yellows are needed )

what about compared to the 2004 WRX? I could get a 2004 WRX at the same price I could get a RSX-S, what would you rather have of those two?

i dunno why yall are scared if a dealer goes with u for a test drive...i tested the new si and the guy who sold me my ex came with me. so i drive around the streets, doubled back onto the main street the dealership runs along, stop and a green light, and dump the clutch from 3.5k rpm. had that thing up past 70 in the time it took to get to the dealership.

I drove one after i wrecked my 01 and I think my gf had an orgasm from the passengers seat. They just handed me the keys said, "Go have fun and we will see you when you get back." I couldn't believe they just handed me the keys. I almost sold everything I own to get one. Too bad I couldn't even think about the payments. Oh well, we shall see after graduation.

Hmm. . . that's a toughy. I would have to go for the RSX-S. But that's just me. . .

Gotta love that about Acura dealers, I think it's in the Acura Corporate guidelines, all test drives will be without a salesperson. My wife and I test drove a base RSX like only weeks after they first came out, the one we drove still had the protective plastic sheeting on it from transport, and when we came back from the drive, the car was smoking from underneath!!
I never has such a cool experience for a test drive as at that Acura dealer. I would consider an Acura over other carmakers in part just for the dealer experience.

I'm biased but go with the celica if you want a Driver oriented car that can handle serious abuse and can handle like no tomorrow!! I went to see the rsx-s before I got this car and I had no doubts!!! besides GT-S is faster stock for stock! great gas mileage too! downside you cant use anything but premium gas. if you do you wont own your car long I've heard.

the wrx, or the wrx sti already have a turbo, wich you could make larger, or you could put a huge turbo on the rsx-s and it would hall ***** too, and i still think the rsx looks better than the wrx

you dont wanna buy a rex and slap a bigger turbo right on it. that = bad idea and the stock turbo sits right above the second cylinder. that means that cylinders temperature is higher than the others. you will destroy the motor without doing other stuff to it first.

Now everyone in that area who reads these boards knows which RSX-S NOT to buy....
Honda dynos every car in the factory before it is even shipped out. It's obvious why they do this, but just shows that they double check the motor strength before shipping. Redline with 0 miles. I'm not sure how many people actually know about that. So I'm guessing the "break-in period" doesn't 100% revolve around the motor. All the other parts need to break in too. everyone should keep that in mind when they bring up the 600 mile rule. (clutch, brakes, etc.)

AlexLx is correct, the "break in period" pertains to other things, such as the breaks. The engine has a certain motor oil from the factory though from what I hear and you are advised to "take it easy" and not to drive it too hard all the time until 1,000 miles or so. It won't hurt to redline every one in awhile though as long as you don't hit the rev limit between each gear on a test drive.

I would agree about the engine being "broken in" at the factory, but as you mentioned, the break in period applies to other systems of the car, not just redlining the engine. I'm sure Acura wouldn't recommened taking it out for a test drive to 100+mph, after which I'm sure he was hard on the brakes, which isn't that great either, so I was referring to this specific example.

he hasn't driven a rsx-s, he says that's what all his car expert friends say... he had v-6 accord for awhile and now he wants to get celica gt. Which do you think is a better car? rsx-s or celica?

Between the RSX-S and the Celica GT. I'd go with the RSX-S.

Between the RSX-S and the Celica GTS. Than I'd still go with an RSX-S. Haha. Probably because I'm getting one.

I'd agree with Azure. Not because I'm getting one, but I've never been a fan of the current Celica's looks. The RSX may look boring to some, but the Celica looks just plain weird to me. And while the GT-S probably handles better stock than the RSX-S, speed wise they are damn close, down to a drivers' race. Plus the K series is extremely mod friendly.

i took a white type s out today with the sales guy (of course) and it is just so much more than i imagined. Im not saying its like a supercar but its quite a bit better than the "unbeatable" wrx everyone claims is the best. The type s had more pickup and looks alot better inside and out in my opinion. The wrx handles poor road conditions better and is more sure footed in the twisties but overall opinion....definitly goes to the rsx....the interior is so smooth......its just better and anyone that says they are over-rated obviously hasnt driven one!

cwick187, there was an article in Car & Driver that compared the RSX-S to the GT-S and other models. The RSX-S blew everybody away. The Celica is a nice car too and I have a few friends that drive it. But take a look at that article.

got my ABP type S last Sat
the thing handles so well! The steering is unbelievable, the ride is so sick! Interior is nice, trunk space was way bigger than i expected.
The pickup is crazy compared to my 2k1 ex, brakes are sooo much better, clutch is a lot stiffer, shifts are smoother
Overall, i wouldnt say my Type S is over rated....

ive driven my friend's type s numerous times.

the last time i took it out, he told me i could burn it out. SOOOOOOOO...

i revved to 7 grand and dropped the clutch. DANG that was fun.

we left two perfect rubber trails at least 15 feet long and a parking lot full of smoke. then we ran.

i absolutely love that car.
