what do you think
What do you think Honda/Acura's next type of car should be ?
besides putting a V8 in the NSX I think Honda should make a truck to compete with the Tundra, and the new Nissan Titan, I know I'd prolly get one.
Also maybe a V8 in the Pilot
there's just somethin exciting about the thought of a Honda V8

i can't imagine honda ever making a V8... just doesn't seem like a honda thing...
i think they're puttin' their thing down alright if they're getting 240 hp in a 4-cyl. i don't think the NSX needs a V8, a hi-po 6 will do the trick.
i also can't imagine a honda pick-up. but if you asked me a year ago if i thought something like the element would ever come out, i woulda told ya hell no. so whatever. i'd just be really surprised if we see a pick-up or a V8 from honda.

Honda's got the car market. . . . Toyota's got the truck market.
Thing is, all of Honda's vehicles are based on car platforms, or close variants of them. To make a real truck would involve extensive changes in their formulae, and would likely see Honda's profits wane for a few years until things pick-up (pardon the pun) if they ever do.
SUVs are one thing. So many people who are in the market for (and really SHOULD BE DRIVING) a minivan are easily stepped-up to an SUV. Honda's got a flawless mixture with the Odessey, CR-V (gen II), and the new Element and Pilot. They've got pretty much every base covered. If they try to get into the REAL truck market, they would have to almost double their vehicle lineup to compete, effectively.
Just go to Toyota's website for a minute and look at their vehicle lineup. I think more than half of them are either pickups or SUVs. That is what Toyota is REALLY known for. Nissan hasn't been able to keep up with Toyota's truck sales, and they've been at it for nearly as long as Toyota has. Why should Honda risk their position as #1 Japanese import car manufacturer just to enter an already-saturated market? Bad business sense.
To answer your question, though . . . (What do I think their new vehicle idea should be) . . . I have a few ideas.
New 2-seater pocket rocket, on the affordable side. (Not to compete with the S2000)
AWD sports sedan to compete with Mitsu and Subaru
Mugen Edition S2000 (with custom trim to identify)
Just a few ideas.

I think Honda should stay away from trucks and V8s. If there ever comes a time in my life when I am looking to buy a truck, I wouldn't even consider Honda. I also wouldn't buy a V8 NSX. That doesn't appeal to me. I just think Honda should pack some more power into the NSX engine. If they can squeeze 240 out of a four banger for the S2000, they should have more than 290 out of a six for the NSX.
I think Honda's wisest move would be to make a less expensive roadster a la MR-2. If they could open up the roadster market without doing some cheesy del Sol model, I think they could take another piece of the market that people would be friendly and open to.

I wanna see the S2000-R concept.
3.0L I6 - 350 HP
I seriously think if they built a sports car between the S2K and the NSX (The 45K range), they'd do pretty well, considering I see S2000's sprouting up everywhere.

That may be, but it'll be SUV-based Pilotish subframe. I seriously doubt Honda would ever go to a true truck ladder frame. I would say it'd be classified more as a crossover vehicle.
Transvehicles for transgenders.
Crossover vehicles for cross-dressers

if you pick up the newest (aug 2003) "car and driver" the front page says "racy roadsters" well turn to page 34 (the spied section) you can see a picture of the honda truck based on unibody pilot SUV....looks like avalance ....for sale 2005 possibly with acura mdx 260 hp motor..i dont like it expected better stylin from honda
I'd like to see a new CRX, although by the time it comes out I don't think I'd be interested in owning a car like that as a daily driver. As for the truck, i did hear that a few times, but yea, its more of a cross-over like the avalanche and Explorer Sport trac than it is a pick up.

Convertible CRX or Civic could be interesting...
I mentioned to my sales guy that I would have bought an Si if it was a coupe when I picked up my EX, so that would be sweet...with a 6 speed manual.

Honda won't make a k20 civic coupe. It would eat way into their RSX sales and completely destroy their Si sales.
Honda is also known as "the motor company" so I doubt we'll see a turbo'd civic or anything else anytime.
