One more thing to think about, in the long run the EVO 8 will probably cost less to maintain/repair, vs the STi. this is due to the fact that the EVO 8 is a mass-produced car while the STi is a limited production model.
Just a thought.

Out of the 3 i say evo. I almost bought one. I looked at the new Mazda RX-8's. Man I love those cars. I saw the first ones to hit the states today in Seattle. I already put a deposit on one. They havent even built it yet. It starts production 1st week of August and Ill get it late Sept. early Oct.
get the STi. the evo8 and the STi are about the same performance-wise, and i doubt that you would be pushing your car to those limits anyways unless you live near a track. and though the evo is a mass produced model, mitsubishi reliability means you'll be needing maintenance alot more.
whats the insurance like on an evo? i have an opportunity to get a used one through my uncle. would it be a lot more than the insurance on the civic if i had the evo? i gotta find a way to convince my parents to let me do this, i want this car so badly

For anyone (especially us guys) under 25. . . . you're going to get ***-raped on insurance premiums in any of these cars.
Just be ready for that. The fact that the Evo and STi are not "sports cars" in that they have 4-doors and a back seat will not help so much in that their turbocharged engines are going to kill your liability premiums. The S2000, while not turbocharged, is still going to ***-rape you because it's still a powerful car, and is a two-seater. . . and the fact that it's a convertible helps even less when it comes to personal injury coverage. I'm telling you. . . at 18 you're going to get it up the *** every month you own it until you're AT LEAST 21. . . assuming you don't get any tickets between now and then you may be able to afford that. Who knows?

Im would have to say Subaru WRX Sti, the Impreza is 6-speed manual, 4 wheel drive, and has that new agressive look, but the Evolution 8 is nice also. So is the s2000 in that new color, its like Sakuza blue or something like that... but its nice. I say buy the WRX.
Mitsu makes TVs, and if your where im form ud be unbaresed to drive one, STI is ugly as sin.... It would be liek takign a fat girl out on a date....
S2000 Is a hott little car when supercharged is a bullet...
Im prolly partial though hehe...

Evo-12
S2000-11
STi-4
Why does everybody think the Evo is so cool. Is it because 2 Fast 2 Furious??? The STi has more power and more torque and is a 6-speed. Put a bigger turbo from Greddy and it will kick a supercharged S2000's a$$ anyday. I don't think I would ever be able to drive a Mitsubishi no matter how bad a$$ it was. Just not my type.

Sorry, Never saw 2 Fast 2 Furious. Dont plan to either.
as far as the differenc between the STi and the EVO, well thats really a matter of opinion.
shure the STi has more tourque and HP, but as a track car (Road Race/Autocross), the EVO 8 and the STi are Pretty much equal, so the choice comes down to Looks and how you drive. The S2000, while a beautyfull car thats a blast to drive, is simply out classed by both.
as far as throwing $$$ at them, well that changes everything. Simply because with enough $$$ you can make any thing fast. Even your mothers UGO could be a 9 second car if you put enough $$$ in to it. So look at them stock, and choose accordingly.
My opinion goes like this,
If I wanted to get the attention of ALL the girls, I would get the S2000 (Lets face it, girls really dont care if you have a turbo or not, they just love looking good in a convertable!)
If I wanted to Dominate at the autocross, well then its either the EVO 8 or the STi. But I would wait untill you see them competing at the nationals and see which one comes out on top. (Both are A-Stock)

zzyzx, I'm not sure how an AWD sport compact sedan outclasses a two seater roadster? They are faster, but I don't think they outclass the S2000 in any way.
btw, since someone asked... the 2004 S2000 will have a bigger engine, a slightly different look, and more horsepower.

S2000 just because Id rather look good on a regular basis. I dont race my cars so I could honestly care less about which has more power than which. And in all honesty, its the best looking car of the bunch. Lets face it, the Evo and the Sti wont win any awards for looks.

Im looking at it from an autocrossers view point, S2000 is in B-Stock Evo 8 and STi are in A-stock, A-stock should be faster then B-stock. once you start to modify suspensions and engines, then any one of them could be "top dog". but as far as stock goes, the AWD's should beat that purdy S2.
Like others said. You just have to ask yourself what you really want the car for. Also listen to what s2000man01 & Yukonart. They have never really steered anyone wrong.
Now, personally, Ive never really been big on the idea of a convertible. But then again, the S2000 looks pimptastic with that aftermarket roof on it. Im really partial to coupes/sedans. Honestly, the new Evo and Sti are so close in everything, Id really have to say go and test drive them both and see which one you like better. If I had the money, I know i would go test drive the sti first before the evo, but who knows. By what one member said, as towards the evo is a more stiffer and less *** swinging around turns, that sounds like me more really. I guess when it comes down to it all, you just have to test drive them all and just pick the one that fits your needs and wants more than the others. All three though are really high on my list of desired cars so it would just come down to my preference. Hope this helps.

ooh... tough tough call...
s2000 are hella fun to drive. but kinda tiny inside, you might feel a little cramped...
i haven't driven the other 2, so can't make comments about fun factor... but i think the STi and EVO more subjected to different opinions due to their exaggerated features, which some ppl might not like... like for example, i really hate the front of the EVO.. i dunt think it matches the rest of the car... so my point is: when it comes to looks, i'd think there would be less ppl (guys and girls) ranting on the s2000 than the other 2 cars... heh.. my gf hates the STi's scoop...
i would personally get the s2000 out of the 3 cars... i dunt really care about performance anyways --> i drive a stock civic, that says a lot...

oh crap. i just read the rest of the board... the new car is gonna be a daily driver? i thought you wanted to get a pimpin' weekend car...
hmm... i woulnd't get the s2000 then... just doesn't seem practical, and comfortable to drive over long distances i might add (according to a friend of course... his daily car is a prelude)... and s2000 can't hold your golf bag! AH HAHAHA
i guess for me, would be narrowed down to either STi or EVO... dude.. go test drive it!!!

Get a M3. Cant compare anything to it. And heads turn more when it says M3 on the back, its wide and just looks bad ***. EVO, STi ..thats for hardcore racers, speed only oriented people. M3 is elegant. Fast. Will whoop a lot of *** out there and still look good doing it.
M3 will run you hell of lot more then what any of those 3 mentioned will. So if you dont have beans for the M3, I'd say go for S2000. Another really sexy car, turns heads all the time. STi & EVO also turn heads but only from people that know what kind of cars they are. I know I stop and hold traffic everytime i pass next to the parked 02'03 M3. Mmmmmm niceeeeeeeeeee...
And this is off the subject totally but I just gotta ask, did anybody read this months issue of Euro Tuner ? They have Gumball 3000 coverage inside, and I read something funny from one of the writers that was at the Gumball this year. From what I can remember reading, a Swedish buiilt Jaguar broke down somewhere in Nevada I think. They needed to replace oil cap. They figured a VW oil cap will fit fine. The only problem, VW dealer didnt have any oil caps in stock for sale. So rich ***** bought a brand new Beetle for 25K, took the oil cap off and put it on their Gumball Jaguar and left the brand new Beetle on the side of the road, somewhere in the Nevada desert. LOL talk about having money up the ***...

well i just got back from the Subaru dealership and i think im gonna get the STi. He told me alot of crap wrong with the Evo's. Like clutches goin out at only 200 miles and intercoolers fallin of when hittin speed bumps. I dunno if thats BS or not but i know Mitsubishi's are built like crap. I left a $500 deposit so he can order my STi but i'm not 100% sure yet. Oh and someone said it but u can not test drive any of the cars unless the deal is gettin done.
