or you could just go the speed limit

i usually only speed on the open-highway and use the 'rabbit' method

Let's do something useful with this thread. Let's put together our own list of "best methods" for avoiding tickets.

So far we have:

1. Use the "Rabbit Method" - find someone going fast and trail behind them so THEY get the ticket.

2. Drive in a pack - Safety in numbers

and I'll add one too...

3. Watch the overpasses - Cops like to hide under or around them. When I'm speeding, I ALWAYS slow down a little and search them like a hawk for any signs of a cop.

How about staying farthest to the right on a highway? In other words, avoid the left lane and always look ahead for overpasses and approaching traffic going the other way. Got nailed from an overpass and got nailed by a cop going the other way.

Best way, though? Stay within the speed limit. It's much cheaper in a long run!!!

Also, another technique is to watch the backlights of cars going over the overpass. If they start braking, that means there's a cop up ahead.

Also try to avoid this:

"Cops are not looking for green Ford Tauruses; they're gunning for someone in a rice rocket with a 3-foot-tall wing and an oversized "fart-can" muffler."

Ive went through Lazer traps in my old Tercel many times doing sometimes up to 30KPH over the limit and they never bothered stopping me. They probably go after the hot cars.

Also, the other day I was doing 25 over in a safety zone (Forks of the Credit for the GTA members) And fell into a trap but again they didnt stop me. This was with my new SI Coupe. But its bone stock, so perhapse they only stop hot cars unless your really flying? Also, once they see me I dont bother slowing down. It just makes you look guilty. I usualy continue speeding because its too late anyway

I have a radar detector. Cops generally don't like you having them. It's kind of an "admission of intent to speed". I mounted it above my rear view mirror and hid the wire in the cars trim and down the pillar. While it's not invisible, once your pulled over it helps if they don't see it.

some food for thought:

why should the cop that PULLED YOU OVER care if you have a radar or not, it obviously DIDN'T WORK. You just got pulled over..

Nice.. never thought of hiding it up there.. most of those are good. I find that when a cop does notice you and follows you, but doesn't actual turn on his lights.. it's good to try to resume near the same speed but a few mph slower.. and move around the lanes a bit.

I had the nieghborhood highway partol slowly tailing me 12 cars back.. to the right lane.. and he followed siut.. right lane.. again.. left..right..left..left.. then once you find a spot where your basically hidden from them just chill and relax and try to stay out of sight.. (out of mind), I exited 3 miles down the road and saw him as I pulled up to the light.. he was still on the freeway.. he was in the middle lane.. it looked like he was lookin around for something.. lol.

They probably won't ever come right out and say anything about having a radar detector. But the question is, what do they THINK about it? If you try to climb inside thier heads for a second, it's clear that it will put you in slight disfavor with them. The trick, obviously, is to not get pulled over. BUT, once your already pulled over, it may boil down to something little that makes the difference between getting a "warning" or "the ticket".

This reminds me of another detail. The radar detector does nothing to help you avoid tickets. In fact with my previous statement in mind, IT MAY ACTUALLY HELP CAUSE THE TICKET. The radar detector only serves to help wake your *** up from whatever day dream your in the middle of. After that, it's up to you to SLOW YOUR *** DOWN.

People must think that I'm a rabbit when I drive. They always get behide me. Most of the time I don't out run the flow of traffic. I have a limit on how fast I'll drive period and thats 80 on the highway and 55 in a 45. I'm costantly changing my driving style there'er days I drive like an old landy and others like rabbit.

There are certain spots where you can "safley" speed. Thats on narrow highways. They can't hide on the median they only can get you from air or by sneaking up on you.

Here's one...once the cop pulls you over, try to get him to joke around with him...if you can get him to relax and joke around, chances are he won't give you the ticket. This has gotten my friends and family out of too many tickets to count.

The best way is simply to obey the traffice laws. Well, at least for the most part.

Stop at stop signs, don't run red lights, remove that annoying loud **** exhaust, mostly drive around 5-10mph over the limit, and never go over 15mph over the limit.

It takes some longer than others to learn those things. I know it took me several accidents, tickets, and mega premiums before I became somewhat rational behind the wheel.
