Rep Power: 0 Acura EL...in San Diego
...was just out at Home Depot today in SD CA. Saw a shiny new Acura EL...BEAUTIFUL!!! This thing is just our Civic all dressed up but holy cow it was really nice. It had decent alloy wheels, tan leather interior, leather wrapped steering wheel, fake wood trim inside (ugly), spoiler, and really cool tail lights. It's amazing how different a car can look with just a few changes. I was impressed. I think I liked the tail lights the best...they were stretched into the center of the car towards the liscense plate area. Anyone else seen one of these???

Rep Power: 0 I have never heard of an EL. Anywhere. Not even at their website.
You don't mean the TSX, do you? I've seen them AND the J-spec Accords they correlate to.
EDIT: Five minutes after a google search, I found one at cardomain. They look pretty sweet. Wood trim looks bad on most things IMO, cept this Toyota Ipsum crossover wagon thing I was in, in Japan. It was sweet.
but the EL is pretty crazy. i like the 7th gen sedan better tho. those tails kinda weird me out.

Rep Power: 0 the EL basically is a hopped up Civic EX (what you guys have in the US) with 4wheel discs, sound-insulation under the hood (quieter ride), leather seats (on the premium), alloy wheels, VTEC (our Civic Sedans in Canada don't have VTEC), different tail (i think all it is is that it has a different trunk section), front lamps (cleared corners + signal lights on bumper), etc...

Ya, there are a some real nice ones here...they look sweet when they're built....Not to mention they are the perfect donors for rear wheel disc brakes along with the SiR (canada).

Rep Power: 0 The El that I saw was at the Sports Arena Home Depot...I know it's just a souped up Civic...but it's really eye catching...seems like the Civic all dressed up for Prom...I did love the 4 wheel disc brakes. I have an Ex coupe and Honda should stop being so cheap and put 4 wheel discs on the ex models.

Gee that's funny... if it was so noticable why do people who break their endlinks with the stock bar on never notice it's broken until they look under the car? This was coming from a reviewAr of MSN Autos Canada.
On to stuff I like though I don't like the look of the sedan.
Hmm... it's oil tank is larger than ours? 3.7 vs 4.2?
Someone wanna translate the curb weight to lbs? (Premium: 1199, manual tranny). Doesn't seem to weigh that much, but just curious.
It comes with electronic brake distribution.
Damn... I knew it came with the auto UP window feature... ... I want that.
That's all I find attractive about it... I do like the front bumper and lip.
Luxury and power that defies price-point. It is a spirited vehicle. A vehicle with the power and precision to connect you flawlessly to the road. Yet, it is no less accomplished in the art of style and sophistication. It is a luxurious, European-inspired sports sedan that captures the art of driving. The Acura EL. Built by Canadians for Canadians. From the impressive linearity of its steering, to its precise, 4-wheel independent suspension, the EL will deliver superior road feel and unforgettable control. A responsive VTEC® engine serves up power to awaken the senses, and to be enjoyed from an openly driver-oriented cockpit.
Here's another
In all driving situations, the 1.7 EL shows great agility, finesse and cornering poise. The lower roll centre in front makes it turn into corners with great precision and the 12 mm rear antiroll bar is quite effective in reducing body roll and keeping understeer to a safe minimum.
On to stuff I like though I don't like the look of the sedan.

Rep Power: 0 Yes, I saw it in SD too! The plate is 4Cxxxxx (I don't remember). I check out its taillights only because I need to make sure they are both using the same lens as on Civics.

Rep Power: 308 I'd just like to have the trunk lid/inner taillights off of an EL, and only because there aren't any down here, I've seen one in South Ga and that's only because he was headed to Florida.
