Exclamation Ultimate Performance Metroplex???

Allright guys and gals, I have a very importnant question to ask everyone. It mostly pertains to people in south Texas (San Antonio, Austin and Corpus area). How would all of you people react and support a test and tune, dyno facility, DIY classes, parts-performance-accessories dealer, track on vicinity which includes a drift course, as well as a shop that will do everything from simple tune-ups to all out pure hardcore racing store? I am gaining financial backup to make my dream a reality. The losation of the store is undecided from Austin or San Antonio. I want my facility to not only offer consultations, but also a track and in house dyno to show proof and backup for all things done for the customer. I plan to have an allwheel drive Dyno so that people with WRX's, EVO's, Skylines and every other all wheel drive can test and tune their cars, as well as FF or FR drive. I have already established factroy authorized training for the Do It Yourself crowd for VERY VERY low price classes for the individuals who want to learn to work on thier own cars. The manufacturers I have backing me so far or AEM, TODA, HKS, APEXi, BLITZ, JUN Racing, SIGNAL WORKS, SPOON (I will be one of 2 authorized SPOON sprts equipment dealers which means you can buy a complete tunkey engine from spoon or just some of thier parts), MUEGEN, TRD, NISMO USA, STILLEN, SKUNK, CROWER CAMS, and the list goes on. These companies and more will be on hand on a scheduled basis to provide technical as well as seminars and classes for people who want to rocket into the imprt scene. As for machine work, A full machine staff will be on hand for custom machine work and fabrication for the enthused people who want to get every potential horsepower out of thier engines. I have alot going on for this facility and I will need help from people for Demo's (demo personell will have a demo car and get to drive it around to show what this place has to offer). So far the demo car list has these cars and more to come; EVO 8, STI WRX, ITR '01, PRELUDE, CL TYPE S, MAZDASPEED PROTEGE, NEON SRT-4, TIBURON, an actual righthand drive SILVIA S-15, SI '00, SI '03, RSX TYPE S, and a few more. These cars are heavily modified and will drive people insane. I will be setting up times and dates for applicants as well as other sponsors who want to join. I'm getting into the operation alot, but I return to my original question. How would the tuner public as well as the general public support something like this. Alot of research and development has gone into this to see how it will work. Post your replies and let me know whats up with it ok. Thanks for all your time.

I think that is a good idea so you have people that come for different reasons, but you have to put it in a place where people can actually travel to and not take 5 hours to get to. Also prices would have to compete with prices for products. Your asking for a lot for what you want, that big of an area would be hard to come by as well as the permits for both a track facility and store. I like that during the day you could get things tuned and so forth and at night race on the track or whatever. you just have to make sure that it will make enough money to stay a float, meaning you have to have enough people come.

Good news is that prices will be very competetive and that it will be centered somewhere where everyone will have access to the facility. Sponsorship will keep the place afloat for the first 8 years, sponsora already put up the money and gaurenteed it for the next 9 years. It will more than likely be in SA due to it being the center of most of texas. I am short on time today, but please ask questions about anything or suggest some thing that you would like to see, etc.....

thanks for your time and replies guys.

Well im not sure that people from city's other than austin would be willing to make that trip. Personally, i think the store would make more since in Houston or Dallas just because of the enormous population compared to SA. I mean how many millions are within houston city limits alone? Not to mention how many more millions in the suburbs. Just seems better from a business standpoint. Its a nice idea to want to have it centered for everyone in the state, or maybe you just want it in the middle from a business standpoint. But i dunno, the two big cities seem like better locations to me.

I like the idea of it being in the middle of Texas. If you put it in Austin, its basically a 1-3 hour drive for anyone b/t Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. Its like 6 hours b/t Houston and Dallas. Plus Austin's a party town so there is plenty of entertainment for visitors. I have lived in the area for over three years now and San Antonio, Austin or anywhere in b/t would be a good spot.

P.S.- I go Southwest Texas (Soon to be Texas State Univ.), and I will be living in the San Marcos area. I would be more than happy to apply and help you out with setting it all up. Please send me an application. I PM'd you.

But if you put in Houston or Dallas you will basically exclude the other city. I don't think many people would mind driving a couple of hours rather than 6 for one of those cities. I drive between Houston, Austin, and New Braunfels hundreds of times a year, and its really not that bad of a drive.

I'm with him. Your plans are big, and it seems like you've got the backing, but you still have a very big job ahead of you. Not only is it going to take a lot of effort to start the operation, but you have to worry about establishing a customer base and a reputation for quality work. I'm sure big names like SGP, rx7.com, Jotech and Carboy have a lot of customers that will be hard to convince.
