The new model just came out so that downed the value of the previous models, not much, but a noticible amount. Plus a lot of people want to upgrade to the new one.

Im sure the WRX is very reliable....It holds the Subaru Brand Name. I see used 2002 WRX's at car dealers for sale around $16,000 to $18000. That is a normal price for a used $23,000 car. I dont see that as being cheaper. Cars lose value thier first year....
I would get a used one but I'd be afraid that these things have been beaten on. I mean some people, especially younger people, may have beat the **** outta them and now they traded them in only to have the problems sold to someone else. Safest bet would be to go through an actual subaru dealer and not ebay.
It has a lot to do with how many WRXs are out there. Suburu was smart to only release 3000(i think that is the number) STi's this year and every year after that. Just look at the Type-R in America. The 2k1 Type-R was selling for 26K when the Type-S came out in 2003. I do not know how much it is selling for now. Mitsubishi is selling as many Evos as they can. We just have to wait and see which marketing strategy does better. I think Mits just wants to get its name out again and Suburu wants to keeps it face from the past two years. I think they only has a ECU problem and thats pretty much it.
WRX's are pretty reliable. My dad has had one for a year now, no problems at all. A car based off WRC specs should be pretty reliable. Even a bad driver, you'd have to be pretty stupid and really bad to wear out a hardy car like the WRX

Like someone already said, most makes don't hold their value nearly as well as honda and toyota..it's pretty simple.
And good luck with a used one. You know the living **** has been beat of it by some male in his early 20's..
