feedback from honda?
feedback from honda?
yeah, i bought a 2003 civic back last november, and i havent done anything to it really, other than a new shift ****. mainly because i was spending all my money on my pc, then saving for a plane ticket home, and... well thats another story.
anyway, recently i had some problems with my tranny, something with and idling gear that was loose. so i tok it into honda, and they were like OH SIR! well fix that right away, here is your rental car (a ****ing cavelier, which is the worst god damn car ive ever driven) dont worry, well order your parts and install and youll be good to go.
thats whats great about a warantee. the only thing is, i know that as soon as i put exhaust on my car, the whole damn thing will just go nuts and fall apart on me, and my waratee will be voided and ill have to break my wallet.
has anyone put aftermarket parts on their vehicle and then had something happen?
i guess im just looking to be assured that everything will be okay if i start changing parts.

If you don't buy **** parts, and you install/have them installed properly, more often than not, they're better than the factory parts anyways. So it's not really something to worry about.
And your warranty is only voided on parts you replace and anything directly related to them. For example, lowering springs void your suspension, and thats it.
So your exhaust really just voids out your exhaust. As long as the cat and all the sensors are still intact, there isn't much else they can give you **** for.

the only warentee an after market exaust will void is the waretee on the stock exaust. that's it. Ive had the transmission (Poping out of 2nd problem) fixed twice by honda and I have a cat back exaust, headder and SRI allong with springs and some other little things. the only warrentee that these parts void are the parts they replaced or directly interact with (Springs void the warentee on the struts). If you start doing internals, well thats a different story.
i know that it only voids what is directly related to... but still the exhaust touches the engine, an they could make up some bullshit about how my exhaust system doesnt provide enough backpressure, so that ****ed up my engine... i know those bastards would pull some **** like that, just to get out of fixing my ****.
i just dont wanna get stuck with a bill if they dont get my tranny 100% tip top, but thanks for the comfort guys.
by the way, has anyone else had trouble with their tranny? the mechanic said something about an idling gear that is loose so it rattles when im in second, they're replacing it with one that has a build in spacer or some ****. just wondering if anyone else had heard this, since they started making the gear with a built in spacer they must have had the problem before...

they cant make up some BS, they have to prove that it had a negative effect on whatever broke. so even if the exhaust "touches the engine" they will have to show concrete proof that the addition of the exhaust made the engine fail...
as for problems w/ the tranny, you should check out the vehicle issues and problems forum.

From my experience most Honda dealers have are straight up, unlike the domestics. Also they some people buy there cars to modify them and they dont want to discourage that & loose sales.
