dont forget there only not exotics to us go to any other and try to find a zo6 or viper but if you go to italy its not hard to find a diablo or in japan skylines are not a rare sight.
Good post, even if the article is a bit old, but good nonetheless. My .02 is the Cobra can't really be compared with the other 2 cars in this test for one reason: price. You could upgrade the factory Cobra, which is already pretty damn potent in stock form, to levels that would beat the hell out of both the Z06 AND the Viper, and still have plenty of $$ left over. The fact that the Cobra has this level of performance that is close to the other 2 cars for way less $$$ is pretty impressive, whatever you think of FoMoCo. That being said, the Z06 probably is the best car of the 3, price not withstanding. Best balance of engine power, handling, braking, interior, and everyday driveability.

who ever said skyline was exotic.
i dont mind driving 100k+ italians
out of the 3 choices...z06 for sure. driving a viper is difficult. it gets really hot... to the point where the A/C is not an option but an absolute necessity. ( for the GTS ) also, it's not exactly nimble and feels rather heavy. your typical muscle car.

i've seen more vipers in the area than mr2
the only really rare car around here is this black stingray i see once in a while, it has a hood spoiler and the whole 9 yards, it's sweet!
and i believe there are 4 fd and 5 fc that lives in the area
and yes, i'll take a vette over that v10 antique(no offense to those who like them)
I think its based off of location.... Liek in beverly hills you see 7 series beamers, procheas, ferraris and vipers regulary... depends in what neighborhood your in.
Exotic is an Enzo.... Ive seen one when i was stuck in traffic on the 405 near LAX

Beemer 8 series I think is something you don't see everyday. Saw one once in NYC. I think an exotic car as Lambo's. Around here Porche's, Beemers, Hummers, and S500 Benz's are common. I live in a more upper class area of NJ. Somewhat near the Shore.

BMW mostly considers the 8 series a flop (Both the 840 and 850). the last make of the 850 is considered to be the best incarnation of the 8 series.
840 Ci 286hp/5300rpm 310LB FT/3900 Rpm
850 Ci 326Hp/5000 Rpm 361LB Ft/3900
850 CSi 380 Hp/5300 RPM 405LB Ft/4000
all were electronically limited to 150 MPH
Of course all three will happily do 150 all day and not complain.

I don't know why people arent calling these cars exotics. They are AMERICAN exotics. Yes the Z06 isn't as sexy as a 360 modena, but guess what it performs just as good. Which puts it in the same class as that car.
I don't think they are all that plentiful as everyone is saying. Of course it depends where you live (for you ballers), but hey these are some of the fastest american production cars you can buy from a dealer right now. So I would consider them exotics.

The viper is the most expensive car and the fastest among the Z06 and the Mustang Cobra. If money were not a concern, the viper owns all. But for the price, the cobra is worth it priced for only about 30 grand. Like you guys said, the Z06 is the best overall.

Z06 -- refinement, performance, and a relative bargain.
I like the Cobra, but then I've (for some wierd reason) been liking the Mustang lately.
However, its also a good bit heavier than the Z06 or Viper. Having driven around my g/f's 2002 GT ragtop, I feel the Vette is worth the premium over the Cobra. You can really feel the weight of the Mustang and its ergonomic aren't all that great.
