6th gen - Most reliable engine ever built?
Hi all,
I'm just looking into the pros of cons of these civics (especially the 97). I've never read any sort of engine problems with these cars. Can you tell me how reliable the 6th generation engine has been to you, and or any problems you've faced with it. Thanks!

Very reliable especially if they've been maintained properly
My girlfriend's 99 has almost 400,000 kms on it and it's still running strong and doesn't burn any oil

As long as you replace the belt when needed, keep the gaskets replaced when necessary, and don't abuse, they go a long time. It's amazing to me my engine is 20 years old and burns no oil, starts every time, gets good mileage, keeps up with traffic and goes 80 without trouble. My previous one went 300,000 miles before it started blowing through the seal and burning oil. At the price you can pick these up today, even dropping in a new engine is cheap.
