Piece of rubber inside radiator.

1997 Honda Civic EX (D16Y8 engine)

I noticed that the coolant level was dropping inside the radiator. I would just add a little more coolant. There were no visible leaks. Yesterday, I removed the radiator cap and saw a piece of black rubber floating inside, (see pics).
I removed the piece of rubber, but have no idea where it came from. The rubber seals in the radiator cap are intact and not damaged.
I checked the radiator hoses (which will be replaced) and they weren't damaged.

Replace the radiator cap. Purchase a Honda genuine (OEM) cap from local dealer or certified Honda parts dealer online: such as HondaPartsNow.

After-market caps do not fit as well.

Thanks! I'll be betting an original Honda cap and radiator hoses. I didn't find any leaks in the radiator.

Take Ezone's suggestion over mine. Remove and inspect the thermostat gasket first.

Even before that either get the car on a lift while it's running and inspect for leaks or place a large piece of cardboard (size of engine or larger) and run engine for 15 minutes or more to try and locate a possible leak.
