DIY: How do I tell if my 6th gen Civic has a vtec or not?

I bought my first Civic today and I don’t know how to tell if it has a vtec or not. I have a 1997 Civic ex, I tried searching this forum and didn’t see anything so I thought I would make a post and ask m. Thanks in advance

If its stock (original engine), it does.

Valve cover may say "Honda VTEC"

Alternatively, look behind the left (stage right) corner of the valve corner. Should see the vtec solenoid. Looks like a little cylinder thingy

I see what you are talking about I think so this motor would be a vtec then?

That little cap looking bit with the wire sticking out of it. Located just below the tube on the top left corner of the valve cover. That's the VTEC solenoid. So yeah, this engine has VTEC.

I thought so when I looked but just wanted to make sure, I have a few parts I need to get and wanted to make sure I had the right motor. I mainly need a speed sensor, I feel like it would get better gas mileage and really I’d like to have a speedo and cruise control plus it shifts a little hard but I’ve been told that could be due to the speed sensor not being plugged in at all but it shifts way harder and erratically when it is plugged in
