d16y7, d16y8 engine block interchange

d16y7, d16y8 engine block interchange
Does anyone know if the d16y7 and d16y8 engine blocks are interchangeable. I windowed the d16y8 block and can only find d16y7 replacements locally. I know the cylinder heads are different vtec vs non vtec, but are the blocks the same. Thanks.

Yes they are the same
D16 is the block
y7 is the non vtec head
y8 is the vtec head
D = SOHC 4 cylinder
16 = 1.6l displacment
"xx" = head option
