Wiper Cowl Modification
Wiper Cowl Modification
Hello, I have a 1990 Civic sedan. I want to know if it would be ok to cut out some of the metal under the wiper cowl. This image partly shows what I'm looking at.

The goal is to make the area more accessible and easier to clean out. I want to make to where it looks like in the photo attached.

My only concern is, will it impact the structural integrity at all? If I can cut out most of it and just weld back a couple support pieces, I would be ok with that. Any ideas?

Re: Wiper Cowl Modification
Well I'm going to be painting the car anyway, so I want to clean it up as best as possible. I also want it to be easier to clean out in the future for maintenance to get debris out. It's not very accessible at all with the current design. I know newer hondas have that area open with just the cowl on top covering the wiper transmission and stuff, which is why I want to know if it would be ok to do that on a 1990 model.
