1991 civic hatchback 1.5 liter manual tx

Hello,

I have the trans axle out to replace an old clutch and decided to order and replace the rear mount while it's out. I have the two vertical 14 bolts out but
it's not moving. The recessed one in front of the rubber and also the one on the driver's side. I have removed the "through the mount" bolt and trans mounting bracket.
That last bolt behind the mount is just not accessible as far as I can tell without dropping the whole cross member... How stupid is that??????????????????
Am I missing something here... I thought this would be a quick re and re with the transmission out of the car..
Thanks for any info.

IMHO this rear mount was a bit of a design fail. I see they went with mounting bolts from the bottom soon after. 2 of the 3 were readily accessible but the aft bolt behind the mount
has terrible access. Perhaps if you strip all the heating hoses ect off the firewall you "may" get a shallow socket on it or if you dropped the whole cross member and inch or 2 you may get a wrench on it.
Honda should have either recessed the firewall a bit or put a side tab like they did on the driver's side. :
The rubber was still ok on mine so for me it just wasn't worth the hassle of dealing with that aft bolt. If you need to change your rear mount on a 1991 I would recommend you remove it before you order one..
I am sure it is possible but what a PITA and waste of time.... I hope that Honda engineer has found some other line of work!
