Things on the look out for '09 LX?
Things on the look out for '09 LX?
Hey, so before my current car ('02 LX) blows up, I'm trying to change my car to next generation.
I got a '09 LX coupe on the scope now, CAD4500 with 187,000Km on ODO.
Seller provided Carfax here: https://vhr.carfax.ca/main?id=TDSNK4...I/c&ref=kijiji
He has collision claim for hit-n-run for $3900, around driver door/panel. I wouldn't be worried too much unless it was more to the front.
He also said he did all the maintenance as per schedule but Carfax doesn't show a lot.
So I'm wondering what should I be focusing on to check this generation?

Try this
Send me some photos. Sounds like a lot of money for an 8th gen.
Edit: If it's this one, that's not terrible. I was under the assumption it was still damaged.

You found it Chez 😂
yeah, will try to haggle it down to 3K area, Just want to buy a car that I’ll stick with for long this time. Fell in love with civics with current 7 gen but just can’t handle the bills no more.
So what are the signs that I should nope the heck out while test drive?

I just try to avoid buying cars with crash history. It could be down to bad luck but my dad bought a car that was a year old back in the early '90s with a crash repair on the front passenger side. Every 2-3 years he had to replace the suspension on that side due to uneven wear. That civic may be tweaked somewhere else that you won't be able to see, but obviously I can't talk on it because I haven't seen the car in person.
As long as it runs and drives fine, the oil level is okay and there are no leaks, then it could be an okay car.

I know crash histories are no-no... but hard to find other sellers at the moment.
Gotta keep snooping
Re: Things on the look out for '09 LX?
It's not necessarily that it was expensive, it was more that he was fed up with it after a while.
I'd be much happier buying a high-mileage car with a good service history than a low-mileage car with a poor history.
There're a few neat cars on Kijiji that I'd buy if I hadn't just bought another car lol. I can PM you a few if you want (I assume you're also in the Calgary area)

I’d appreciate it if you can point me some in Calgary area, Chez
Re: Things on the look out for '09 LX?
Don't stress it too much. There comes a point in time where some cars just need to die, and that may be it.
Keep an eye on your PM's. I should send a few your way this afternoon.

Re: Things on the look out for '09 LX?
Just thought I'd mention Carfax web site. You can put in whatever years you're looking for (example 2006-2011 Civic) and a ton of info comes up, including if the car had an accident. Just FYI.
