My wifes 2014 Civic air conditioner was blowing hot. They said the complete system needs to be replaced and the whole system had tons of metal particles in it. They also said it isn’t covered under warrantee.
I can’t find the original Warrantee that shows what is covered.
Standard warranty is 3 year/36k (5 years/60k powertrain). I'm willing to bet you're out of warranty at this point.
There is, however, a TSB for 10thgen civics (16-20 coupe/sedans, 17-21 hatches) and their a/c system, but it's only for defective a/c systems, and doesn't cover a leaking condenser due to foreign object damage. You can take a shot at a dealership and see if your a/c issues are covered by the TSB.
When the air conditioner started to give us issues, we brought it to Honda who said “its not covered.” When we showed them the recall notice, it became covered.
Now a part of the system grenades itself and takes everything out. We needed a new clutch set, Compressor and coil set. That sounds like a manufactures defect to me. But that’s why I am asking here and wonder where I can get a copy of the extended warrantee. The other thing that made me suspicious is when my wife asked for a copy, they said we have to go back to where we purchased the car. Are not all factory warrantees good nationwide and the same?
Sorry, not to be a dick, but it's spelled warranty. Pet peeve out of the way,
It depends on whether or not it was an extended warranty purchased through Honda or not. It's possible it's through a third party. Some dealerships deal with different companies so you'll need to call that dealer to see what was sold to you.
