So I got a call from the police this afternoon asking if I own a Civic. I said yes, and they said we have good and bad news for you. Good news is no one is hurt. Bad news is your car caught on fire! I immediately ran downstairs from my condo and this was the aftermath. It was either a fire caused by the block heater/extension cord or arson. It's getting towed to the fire department and they're gonna do an investigation on it. My guess is it's not arson. The extension cord (three prong) was in perfect shape and rated for outdoors. I plugged in my block heater last night at 7 pm as if was about -20 C and hadn't driven or unplugged the car since. I got the call from the police at 2 pm today. As you can imagine, it was a total shock to me. I'm still numb. Has anyone else experienced issues with their block heater/cord being faulty. I've had no issues with it up to now. I had my car plugged in the past three days. How TF does this happen?! Goodbye my love.
