OBD2 Reader Recommendations

I am in the market for a good used car (preferably a Civic) for one of my kids and would like to use an OBD2 reader during the test drives as another layer of checking out the car.

My preferred setup is an OBD2 Scanner (bluetooth) with an Android app to display results. I do not want to pay ongoing/subscription fees.

Appreciate the feedback!

Re: OBD2 Reader Recommendations

I have this reader:
Amazon Amazon
and paid the one time fee of $5 for Torque Pro on android (torque lite is free and does the job properly). I think I got the paid version because I was trying out custom PIDs for different readings, but I honestly can't remember why I justified buying the app. Maybe because it was only a one time fee of $5 and I just said f--- it. lol

My only beef is it won't give me a readout for intake air temperature, even with the custom PID. My KTuner, however, does. In fact, it gives me IAT at the MAF and post-intercooler readings (I think technically it's right before the throttle body). Honestly though, didn't get the KTuner for that purpose. Got it for that sweet 21psi tune. lol. I use the BAFX one to help diagnose other peoples' cars, mostly.

For other readers that have iPhones, here's a link for the iOS compatible bluetooth OBD reader:

Re: OBD2 Reader Recommendations

If you pay for the full version you're able to erase codes, if you have the lite version you can only read codes
