Honda HDRadio cuts out
Honda HDRadio cuts out
During the purchase of my 2018 Civic, I upgraded to the EX trim. The primary motivator was to have access to the HDRadio.
I have less than 50 miles on the car, yet the HDRadio cuts out frequently.
This is a digital radio broadcast on channel 2. Example 88.5 :2.
This is the local station and is easily received by others on their HDRadios.
Is this due to a
1) Inadequate head unit receiver?
2) Lack of an FM antennae (only that dumb satellite one)
3) Interference from satellite subscription portions or navigation capability (not on EX) of the radio with HDRadio?
I can not afford monthly subscription costs. HDRadio reception is factored into my cost of upgrading to EX trim.
I could receive this station during the test drive, that was experienced in a different 2018 EX.

Whine, whine whine is my thoughts about the 3 response posts on this forum that lacks knowledgeable posters.
Obviously, the car will go to a Honda shop. Today, I am still adding to the list of items to be corrected. Then it will visit for repairs.
If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

It's under warranty, take it to the dealership.
Did you already take it in?
What did they do with it?
I've only ever checked out the HD radio during a new car check in. It's not something I've ever driven around listening to.

Re: Honda HDRadio cuts out
Took it to dealer Tuesday.
It seems Honda deleted the FM antennae from the upper rear window. They are relying on the shark fin. That is not adequate for good reception on the FM wave length, especially for digital FM HDRadio.
Shop Foreman came over. Yep. That XM radio tuner has multiple problems.
I join the line of others awaiting a fix from Honda.
