Help a brotha out yo!!!

Does anyone know of a good place to get a windshield replaced?

I left work this morning and there was a crack half way across my windshield on the bottom quarter (driver's side). Driving home, I keep hearing "pop" sounds. So now I'm half way home and I look at the crack again, that f**ker is 3/4 across now. WTF??! This f**ker is growing. Now that I'm home, its all the way across, with the ends aiming downwards towads the corners.. How unsafe is that to drive???!!!!

So, anyone? I need help ASAP...

Holy crap D! Hmm...since you're out there, I don't know of any good place to do it. I know from experience looking at a guy do it, don't have someone come to your car to get it replaced! The guy was messing up and cutting into the dash and crap - totally **** poor job...

I think you'll be fine if you avoid hard bumps - but to be on the safe side, better go to autozone or something and get some of that windshield repair stuff...that may slow it down. Or buy Some transparent stickers and try and tag it down from the inside...that way it'll have less chance to spider on you...I'm gone for the weekend, but let me know how it turns out bro!

As I was driving, I pushed into the glass a little and saw little bubbles emerge from it being wet. I think I'm stranded until its replaced. I can just see it it caving in on me..
NOT COOL!

Naw, it won't be that bad! After all, the glass is made to spider, not fully fracture. Reinforce it as best you can, and you should be fine till you have it replaced....heck, you can even put packing tape...after all, I'm assuming it won't take you very long to just go ahead and do it...no sense in grounding your car because of it...

At least that's what I think...

True that. I'll go out out later and get something for it. Although, it is a damn good reason to call into work tonight...

Drive safe this weekend..

The window will be fine even if it goes all the way across. There's the coating on it so it won't shatter in an accident. I've driven for a year with a completely cracked windshield without any problems. Oh, don't waste your time with the windshield repair stuff, you're better off giving the money to charity...

All I have to say is, like the commercial jingle says: 1-800-54-GIANT!

Most places will come to your job or home and put a new one in. It's covered under insurance so there will be no charge to you. Like Pill said though, be careful because some places can be messy and get the sealant all over the place.... You may want to talk to the dealer too since they replaced mine in my Civic without any problems, and I was pretty happy. Plus you'll get a OE Honda one instead of an aftermarket knockoff......

Let me know what happens.....

hey D, that sux. but havok pretty much nailed it. i dont know of any places in MA, but why cant the dealership replace it??? as far as i am aware, insurance will cover any damage to glass. i know this cause my roommate in college got a little belligerent once and started emptying his friends fridge...threw EVERYTHING out the kitchen window (2nd story) and forgot that there were cars parked bellow. long story short he knocked out this girls rear window and did some other damage and insurance covered the window.

you should be pretty safe driving like that, but feel with your nail on the inside of the car if you can feel the crack. if you can its all the way through (obviously) and i wouldnt drive like that. but most likely its a surface crack that just spread. get it fixed definately, but it shouldnt break on you if youre driving. just dont park under trees where snow can fall and put more pressure on the window.

do you know how it happened???

Do you guys have free windshield replacement in NH? In MA I think every car can get theirs replaced for free when there's a crack in it. Am I right on that?

It can be covered under comprehensive insurance I think...or something like that...but you have to specify I believe...it's not a statewide mandate...

No, I didn't notice it until this morning on way home. I also stopped by my insurance comapny, only to find they were closed due to the snow. (Aint that a bitch!)
So, now I'll have to wait until Monday to stop by my insurance place. But I will give Giant a call.
