My baby has been injured

They finally got to my baby. Thinking something would happen to my car while I was in school in NY, but no right here at home in CT. Yesterday while at work my car was broken into. The ICE destroyed, the drivers window, and the door. I am sooo pissed all I can do is wait and see if my insurance will cover the aftermarket stereo stuff. I just started reading up on car alarm pagers or something.. Anyone know anything about em, if so please do tell... thanks

Hey... sorry to hear about that. The other day on the forums somebody said the Compustar alarms are good. The ones on Ebay aren't though. Heres a link to the Compustar one though. Compustar

sorry to hear the bad news. get the alarm with the pager. its about 400 installed but its great. has a diagram of your car on a pager and it works up to a little over a mile from your car. has an optional audible or silent alarm. if someone breaks in your door... the cars door on the pager flashes so you can get there in time to spray the nine milli. as far as the insurance goes with aftermarket parts... if you have a receipt, and a good insurance company, like nationwide, your golden. they broke into my car and took everything. the radio goes down in value by 10 percent per year though. always keep good records of what you buy for your car. a good alarm place in TriTownImports. ask for Dave, tell him dan with the red 2k1 civic sent ya. they have locations on the berlin turnpike and in vernon. the number is (860) 870-0093 (vernon)

Damn that sucks man. Good luck getting reimbursed. As for the alarms, if you go for one, go DEI. They have the best ones out there. Don't go with Compustar. There was some post either here or on another forum I found from some expect alarm installer that said its pretty easy to bypass the Compustar system. DEI has a pager system as well. Its not quite as advanced though. Just buzzes when the alarm goes off. Though Clifford is supposed to be coming out with a new system with a sweet pager system. It was supposed to come out back in April, but when I was checking out it in the summer, a dealer said it was gonna come out in Oct. Havent had time to check on that yet though.

Aw man, that sucks...
The sucky thing about the insurance is that they won't cover anything that's not insured with them in the first place. What that means is that you have to give them receipts of any and all aftermarket additions to your car along with pictures (I think?). They will them insure those items, but your insurance premium will go up. At least that's how I think it works... Maybe some insurance companies have addition coverage for items within the car, but you're paying extra for that too... I know mine doesn't.

well after spending a few hours trying to get all the glass out of my car, a new window has been installed and I await the insurance guy to estimate the damages. As far as I know everything should be covered, but yes my $$ will be higher on the next insurance payment. I'm gonna look into the alarms probably around christmas, maybe a sale or something. So I can afford one. Thanks guys

If your car was parked on your property when it was broken into all the stuff in the car is covered through home owner's insurance. My buddy got his mustang broken into twice and the first time they made away with a LARGE book of CD's. Homeowner's insurance gave him $1k just for CD's... If it got broken into at work or at a store talk to management/owners of the building about their insurance policies and you'll most likely be able to get reimbursed. I hope this helps buddy, good luck.

well the insurance guy was a real jackass. My buddy who owns the autobody place is presently arguing with the insurance guy about costs, but it looks like I'm only getting a percentage back for my stereo. Looks like this is a good excuse to upgrade.
