Question CT people, need your help.

hi there, could anyone that lives in Connecticut tell me how and what is the best way to go about the emmisions please.

Im moving from Jersey over there and im afraid my car may not pass the emmisions, although it should... I got a catback and an engine swap, will i have a chance of getting my car registered there?

Also heard that they do some type of VIN verification thing before u get ur car registered, is this the only thing they do for 2002+ vehicles? or will they slap me with a full emmisions test?

thanks in advance.

all you should need at the current time is matching vins for engine and body. If not then you need to show proper paperwork for both and that the engine is the same year as the body or newer. If your engine is older than the body than, NO it should not pass. Currently emissions testing is not going on.

thanks, i got the vin checked up and got everything registered.. but they told me my tints and my exhaust will need to come off.. there is no way Im going to do that...

here is another question... Can i pass emmisions at like some gas station that wont bust my ***** for tints and exhaust sys? (this is how i used to get by in NJ with tints and other things..) OR are the inspections done only at gov't places?

thanks a lot.

right now there are no inspections except for one or two gov't places cause they had issues with mom and pop places doing emissions. They are supposed to reopen in the future. Exhaust- as long as it isn't too loud and tint cannot be a certain amount. Can't remember exact #'s. Check CT state website.

even when they restart an 02 should still be exempt... new cars are exempt up to 4 years old.

the 'will they let it go' question, thats why the missions testing stopped.. they switched to the system they got now and ghetto shops will pass you for a bill, and some places were purposely telling people there was a problem so they could 'fix' it.. corruption
