Almost every post that brings up the subject of short ram vs. cold air intake on here leads to a debate over which power band is more important to whom and bypass valves and so on and so forth.

My question is, what have been your personal experiences here in the northeast in terms of weather and your CAIs? My Honda is my only car, so I have to drive it under all conditions, from these wonderful summer days right through the worst blizzards I'll find myself in. Is a CAI a bad idea? Is sucking up rainwater an issue for anyone here?

I could go either way; I don't have my heart set on a CAI so much that I wouldn't just get a short ram if it's less hassle. Surely the installation of a short ram is easier, right?

Anyway, tell me your stories. Ever get water in your intake? Screw up your whole engine?

Save your money dude...all they do is make a more "aggressive" sound and whistle when you turn the car off.

I had a CAI on my 1995 Accord. It was dropped 1.75 F/1.5 R. I guess I've never had problems with it. There was this one time though when it was raining really hard and I was on my way to my friends house. Coming up to take the left turn onto his street I ran into a HUGE puddle cuz of the rain. I just took my foot of the gas to make sure it didn't suck any water in. It was ok afterwards. I also had the bypass valve on. It was an AEM CAI. With my car now, I have the AEM SRI. I just don't wanna deal with the hassle like you stated. If you take a look at AEM's chart, I believe the SRI has better results that the CAI. (Correct me if I'm wrong guys) If you decide to go with a CAI, make sure you get a bypass valve. I think it's worth it.

I say go w/ a generic intake.. most ppl i speak too say in the end they do the exact same thing.. Gains.. i'm sure you get a little more high end with a cai and a little more low end witha sri..

but for 7thgens intakes dont' do much.. so maybe you shouldn't waste too much money and buy a generic name branded intake..

i have the injen RD CAI.. b/c it is bling.. I get a little more high end power.. but its not noticeably different.. but I do get a sweet sweet sweet a$s sound when it sucks in air..

I've got the Injen CAI. Installed for over two years now and have no problems driving my car all year round. Does it make a difference... well my gas mileage went up maybe +1, it sounds cool, but I don't feel any difference.

I went through a couple different intakes. The K&N FIPK2 was the best I've seen. It's all plastic too so it wont get hot on you. It comes with a dyno slip showing like a 3-4hp gain to the wheels. It's also a short ram so no worries there. Another good think, because it's all black plastic and comes with a sheild, it looks somewhat OEM. The fitment of the unit is flaweless.
