Fancy Trunk
Fancy Trunk
Reason I posted this in Northeast is cuz I'm looking for a garage in Connecticut or a person willing to install one of those fiberglass stereo system trunks. I need something very nice and clean looking. I have just a box in the trunk and it gets me going just thinking about how awkward it looks. My friend told me about the place in Hamden, off of dixwell ave. SoundWorks or something like that.
Anyhow, sorry if I'm being a pest about locating all these garages but I have done searches online and I didn't get much info back on weather the shops do this or not. I don't wanna just call up every number in the phone book.
If someone has a pic to post of a clean trunk setup plz do, I would like to start on this as soon as possible.

You want to go to High Fidelity they're off the Berlin Tpke. Talk to Cain, those guys know their stuff. They were working on a totally custom setup for an Enzo Ferrari, blows anything away. Tell em Josh with the black 2k1 civic sent you. Sorry, but I lost his #, but shouldn't be hard to find.
The average fully glassed trunk takes 80 hours, at an average rate of $60 an hour, thats $4,800 just in labor fees. Materials are extra. If you want to do a show quality job, expect anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000, depending on what you want it to be shaped like, if you want it carpeted, vinyled, or painted, etc.
I think I've decided to go with a raised floor and use vinyl or some fabric to make it looks clean, my only prob is what to do with the 12" type Rs I have. I don't think they would fit in the spot where the spare is kept. Still trying to figure some things out I guess. I did read some stuff on the other forum that you posted Mystic, it was quite useful thx.
Two 12" type R's WILL fit beutifully in the spare tire area. You can get almost 4 cubic feet out of the spare area if you make a fiberglass bowl (very easy DIY) and the TypeR's sound great in .75 cubes each.
mystic wheres a good place to buy a system around here... im thinking about geting something this summer. I was gonig to go with ebay, but one of my friends bought 2 12'' type R's had them for a few months and then one of the cones riped. it seperated where int inter part meets the rubber on the outside. and because he got them on ebay alpine wouldent replace them. he only had a 600wamp
My favorite shop is AudioLink in Manchester; their head installer was rated one of the top 100 installers in the country. You can negotiate on the price with them, and if you tell them Brandon (me) sent ya, you might get a better deal.
