New lil go go mod.. hushhh...
Keeping this off the other forums for now, but I need to let some out lol...
Tomorrow (technically today) Derrick and I will be installing my new turbo
. Hopfully Nas23 will be there 4 a bit b4 work...
Anyway... out with the T3... The new turbo, a T04E, with a T3 wheel, that's been ported and clipped, with a 2.75" Air inlet for the turbo, versus the old 2.4" I had on my T3.
Im shooting for LOW 13s possibly high 12s when the track opens this year...
When's the next meet? I'm just itchin to see slappyhoohah's whip, Greys new mods, and just plain meet up with the guys again...
Anyone got anything?

Sounds sweet. Well, I'm itching to host an install-fest soon. Weather.com says next Sat. will be kinda OK. Kinda cold though too. Hmm... That sucks. My garage only holds two cars, but that might work for a little DIY work too.

having boost fall off with the original t3, talked to sf, he gave me the new turbo, while only having to pay a VERY small diff because of the major upgrade and size, he's including a new downpipe and wastegate as well with it. SF does take care of me, despite the service some other members complain about getting...
So the new turbo is supposed to cure your boost fall off? Does that mean the original turbo was faulty or something? Also, pardon my ignorance, but how would upgrading the turbo make you faster? I thought the motor could only handle a certain amount of boost regardless of turbo size?

The boost fall off is due to faulted seal on the internal wastegate welded onto the turbo. SF was kind enough to offer a replacement, I chose to pay the difference and go for the upgrade.
It makes me faster not because of psi, but because of CFM. For the same amount of boost, this turbo flows more air volume at the same time. The engine will make a decent amount more power at the same psi, but at higher boost levels in the future, the larger turbo can handle much better volumes of air so the turbo can put out whatever the engine needs.

Why a T04E though? It's kind of big. Skips right over a T04B. I know the lag a T04B creates, and A T04E would be more. The 2.75" inlet would help, but you are dealing with a bigger compressor and a smaller wheel to kind of counteract that. My T04B barely fit between the block and radiator fans. It was actually snug against the block, and part of the fan brace still had to be shaved. I think that a T04B is the biggest anyone really needs to go. But it all depends on the build of the turbo and stuff... I got lag comparpable to a T3 because I had turbonetics build the turbo for my engine. But who know's... let us know how it goes.

I think you will get minimal or no power gains out of this turbo at 9lbs. The efficiency of the impeller is that it will make much more power at higher levels (25lbs). Turbo lag will be worse as well.
I agree with Alex on this....
If I throw a XX-trim Vortech on my Mustang, I will get less hp at 9psi than if I threw on an S-trim. It's all about the volumetric efficiency of the impeller. At 25psi however, the XX-trim will deliver hundreds (yes hundreds) more hp than an S-trim will because it is no longer efficient.
Bigger is not always better. Dyno it before and after and we'll have the proof....
If you are looking to run 20+ psi, I wish you luck.....

I just made this bid *** reply but stupic site deleted it all when it said server too busy...
There's a chance SF could have said B instead of E, I was on my cell phone. I'll call him tomorrow though to clear things up.
As for the 20psi thing... not this year cuz im savin for FL, but I'm really looking into the DH shortblock, which is good for about 22psi.

OK the turbo is as follows...
T04B Housing
T3 Compressor wheel, ported, with 11 degree exhaust clip.
Believe its a .58AR in, with .48 exhaust (so it all fits)... My phone was breaking up but hey lol...55mm port, 2.75" air linlet.
