I'll make a DIY as I go along too.
I'll simply adjust valve clearance to the cam. I'll use those little feeler guages. Gotta buy one first though. Don't know when I'll do this yet, but would anyone like to come on over to chill with me while I get to work? We could do two cars side by side.
So yeah, anyone up for an install-fest?

I have plans on the 29th, 30th, 31st, and 1st as well. I'm leaving for Maine with my parents and grandparents and sister my sister's husband and my g/f.
I might have this thing be next Sunday. Might that work for everyone?

Well, the 23rd and 24th is the Cape Cod thing, so unless you are only planning on staying Sat, then that Sun wont do. I'm gonna be busy on the 30th and 31st as well. Got some wedding to go to. I think I'm free in Sept so I'd like to come chill and watch if you are gonna wait till then.

Note: a valve job is NOT re-lashing the valves. A valve job consists of taking the head off the car, cleaning and disassembling, giving the head a three angle VALVE JOB, and then reassembly.....
A re-lash isn't needed on a car w/ 20K miles. I believe the manual recommends 60K. Then again, I've never heard of a car that needed the valves adjusted on a overhead cam car unless you put a new cam in.....
If you still want to learn how to do it, it isn't a bad thing to learn, and is really simple to do....
BTW, next weekend we have the cape cod meet like Kevin said, then the next weekend is labor day (or is it memorial day!?!?).....

Yeah, I knew someone was going to mention the "valve job" thing. I typed things up too fast. I meant "valve clearance adjustment". Hehe...
Anyway, I know they say 60,000 miles. Well, actually in the manual it's 100,000 miles. That's BS though. I rev the hell out of my engine and I think I can hear excessive valve noise at high rpm's. Overboost.com reccomends that you adjust the clearances every 15,000 miles if you're rough on your car. Mine has 33,000 miles, and I hear this grating/loose noise at higher rpm's. I believe it's the valves. It sounds like it anyway...
Anyway, I forgot that people might be spending the night. Hmm... Maybe I'll save this little meet for a little later. Then again, I really want to do this valve adjustment. Maybe I'll get on it myself this week and have this install-fest another time? We'll see...

If you want to bring the specialized tool and come down early on Saturday you can do it at my house.
I'll have at least 2 vehicles to run for parts just in case you need something else.
I have ratchets/extensions/sockets...
Just an offer to you!

Ooh! There you go.
I have a torque wrench, but I don't know if it's precise enough for small torque numbers. What kind do you have Keith?
Oh yeah, BTW... I just found a bunch of diskettes and a small screwdriver in my room. I think they're yours. I'll bring them over to Black's place.

I'm done!
Well, that was fun. I have a ton of pics for a nice DIY too.
All it cost me was time. Lots and lots of time. LOL It took the whole day actually. I scratched my valve cover a tiny bit, but you won't see it unless you look very very very closely. I'm planning to re-paint it a darker gray anyway, so that's allright. I also mangled a nut that's on the alternator. Not visible since it's under a rubber boot, but I'de still like to replace it with a new one. We'll see...
Anyway, results are favorable. The engine is silky smooth again from idle to redline. No more weird noises.
