Poor man swap EX V-Tech engine into LX
I'm planing on doing a poor man swap and doing research for it.
I'll deffinately beef up the internals first.
My car is using oil, is not that bad but I'm going to do some work on it any way.
Here is my shopping list.
A used decent SHOC VTEC D engine complete with computer, trani and all mounts and harnesses. ( don't have to be VTEC )
High Performance (HP) pistons and rings.
HP Tatinium Valves.
Direct Fuel Injection Nitrous System.
Am I missing anything?
Where can I get the best deal with this parts?
If you were looking for an engine were will you go here on Florida?
Any suggestions from people that done any internal work to their engine are welcome.
remember I'm in a budget and I'll like the car to perfom good as an every day driver.

i agree with chris, hector. i sure as hell would take a k20 with a 6 speed than the d17 5 speed. it doesn't seem to hard either..... just need a cherry picker and a couple guys

The only difference is about $8000.00 if I had that I'll use it for a down payment on a RSX.
I need to beef up my engine or any engine if I want to do the turbo and such for the future.
Just hate the idea of having my car on the shop again for a month or two.
Getting the K20 swap is very risky and high price, there are too many bugs to be worked out and it can get expensive to figure all this out.
I'm sure I can get a used D engine for a good price and I can take my time working on it.
Now remember I don't race my car but I drive it every day and having two engines that I can swap any time will increase the life time of my car.
The trick here is to be able to get the most horse power from our original engine without compromizing the basic structure and praticality of this car.
Eventualy I can do a turbo on it and will be able to handdle it.
I'll not do any Turbos or increase the NOS shoot till I get that resolved, that is how I got my engine burning oil to beggin with, and I'm not to crazy about abusing the NOS.
If I do what I want to do I may as well get the EX (VTEC) is not all that important, but if I'm going thru with it may as well. But getting VTEC is not why I'm doing this.
And if is going to cost a lot less than getting a K20 swap.
May be on the future if I happen to run into a good deal on a K20 it may happen.
And no, is not as easy as just two guys and a cherry picker you are nuts
