I don't know if anyone else on here knew him (hell I didn't know him too well), but Steve Farmer died Wednesday night. Steve drove a 99 4cyl Accord, silver. There was an article in the paper today (12/17/04) about him. I don't have a scanner and I'm bored right now, so I'll re-write the article here.
Police identify victims of fatal crash
By RON COLQUITT
Mobile police identified Stephen Farmer as the 30-year-old man killed in a car crash Wednesday night in west Mobile and Nicholas Box as his critically injured passenger.
Cpl. Marcus Young, a Mobile police spokesman, said the men were not wearing seat belts and that witnesses said "speed was a factor."
Family members did not return telephone calls seeking comment on the crash or about the victims.
The 1999 Honda Accord driven by Farmer crashed about 10:45 p.m. at Airport Boulevard and Bellevue Lane, Young said. He said the car "left the roadway and struck a wooden utitlty pole and two traffic signs at the intersection."
Farmer, of Mobile, died at the scene of the crash, the police spokesman said.
Box 20, of Mobile, was taken to the University of South Alabama Medical Center where he was in critical condition late Thursday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Garret Hardman, of Pensacola, who has been living in Mobile since Hurricane Ivan struck his community, said Wednesday night that he witnessed the crash.
Hardman described the driver of the Honda as weaving in and out of traffic and revving up the car's engine in what appeared to be a competition with a maroon or reddish-colored car that was not involved in the accident.
The maroon car was not at the scene of the crash, he said. Mobile County cour records show Farmer had faced charges ranging from reckless driving to speeding.
In February, he pleaded guilty to doing 83 mph in a 55 mph zone, the records show.
A month later in March, Farmer pleaded guilty to traveling 51 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The court records show that in July 2002 he had pleaded guilty to reckless driving. Less than a year earlier in October 2001, Farmer pleaded guilty to running a red light.
Serenity Funeral Home on Old Pascagoula Road in south-west Mobile County is handling the funeral arrangements for Farmer.
According to an obituary provided by the funeral home, Farmer was a lifelong resident of Mobile and was a member of Theodore United Methodist Church.
He graduated from Theodore High School in 1992 and served in the Navy aboard the USS Ohio, the obituary says.
Survivors include his son, Shelby Paxton Farmer; his mother Annette Farmer and his father Kenneth Farmer; and a sister Shelly Biggs.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Serenity Funeral Home. The service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens, according to the obituary.

Like I said, I didn't know Steve too well, I just remember him being a funny guy, and fun to be around. Hanging out at Bruno's isn't going to be the same without him. Rest in peace Steve...
