hubcap mounting ?

got a 2015 civic lx. 15" steel wheels and oem hubcaps. the lugnuts have rubber sealing/mounting gaskets. found a set of 16" oem rims but no hubcaps. will the hubcaps from a 02 altima w/16" rims attach without issues? altima also uses the lugnut/rubber gasket method. sort of a general question short of try it and see? found some oem altima hubcaps for almost free and am wondering.

Re: hubcap mounting ?

you are right. close fit but not deep enough. maybe 5/8" too shallow around the lug nuts area

Re: hubcap mounting ?

Figured as much, my OEM hubcaps don't fit on the aftermarket rims I have for my snow tires

Re: hubcap mounting ?

do aftermarket hubcaps fit well on oem rims? i was at boneyard looking around and found 1 good honda 16" steel wheel with a nice tire. i cant even recall if i saw any hubcaps. 15 or 16". i saw tons of 15" wheels so i figure the odds of finding hubcaps is pretty low

Re: hubcap mounting ?

not sure, you'd have to experiment
or keep looking for oem 16" hubcaps,
could try car-part.com

Re: hubcap mounting ?

i notice the 15" hubcaps fit like a glove on the 15" rim. i tried to fit it onto my 16" rim and am not sure if it even sits down as tight in the lugnut area? of course the OD is smaller but it did not seem to fit around the lug area well. i did see some 2013 crv chrome wheel skins for sale. i went to the website and it says they are custom formed to match wheel profile. maybe they would fit on a civic rim if both are 16"? but seller wants 75 for the set.

Re: hubcap mounting ?

just pick up a set of chrome crv wheels from a junkyard, probably $100-$120 for the set

Re: hubcap mounting ?

the crv wheels have a different curve on the face from the civic. skins for the crv wont fit right. but yes crv rims might fit on a civic if i went that route
