2017 Civic Type R at the Ring

Wow didn't expect to see the next Type R testing at the ring this early..

Is this actually going to be a '17 model year? Was thinking they might wait until 18 but maybe the new Focus RS has them pushing to release it quicker.

I wouldn't be surprised if the RS was a driving point for an earlier release. The RS sounds like it's going to pack an unexpected punch.

Re: 2017 Civic Type R at the Ring

After speaking with my local two Honda dealerships, both have absolutely zero data on a US Type-R release, or even a Type-R GT release, however, they did hint that if Si sales are up in 2016, there is a chance the Type-R will be brought over, otherwise, 2017 is their predicted year. Either which way, the USD to Euro price is getting closer and closer to 1:1 ratio. Might be tempted to just order a EU version, ship it over, and convert it to US standards... Just need another $10,000 or so... only...

Re: 2017 Civic Type R at the Ring

I'd love to be more excited about this model..

10 years too late for this model in the US, is what I read in a magazine. I owned a 2005 Altima 3.5SE 5-spd that allegedly was capable of doing 0-60 in 5.95sec. This Type R Civic doesn't seem any quicker, yet is more expensive.

I'll take an HR-V with awd and an engine producing atleast 165hp please!

Re: 2017 Civic Type R at the Ring

I felt I would grind the front fender on the first corner I tried to see what the altima suspension could do.

Answer was mad body roll, no feel of steering, ground the tire down to the sidewall.

These cars shine in cornering, not for the 1/4 mile. They would be highly under used in a strip. It's for drivers, not pedal pushers.
