Ring Clamps Wont Stay Tight

Recently got a nice little AEM short ram intake. The ring clamps that connect the hose to the vaccum line, wont stay tight, causing hesitative and unsteady acceleration. I keep having to re tighten the clamps every few days with a flat head screwdriver.

Are there better clamps out there I should be using? Its getting really annoying.

Thanks

Re: Ring Clamps Wont Stay Tight

I use T Bolts for everything. Unfortunately, they don't come in a size smaller than 1.25". Try replacing the supplied worm gear clamp with a smooth inner ring clamp (the one that doesn't pinch/cut into the hose), and it shouldn't loosen up so easily. I replaced every clamp AEM supplied with quality ones. No problems or loosening. Try using a thicker, high temp silicone heater hose. That'll give the clamp more surface area to bite down on.

Thanks a lot, where did you get your inner ring clamps? Local auto shop?

What about the clamps that you pinch to loosen. Those would work if I found the correct size right?

And yeah ill have to replace the little hose too because the clamps they provided are digging and cutting into the hose from retightening so much.

Yeah, I got my clamps from a local shop. The pinch clamps would work too. It's mostly personal preference, but the worm gear clamps can tighten down a bit more.

Just so I got this right, which is your personal preference? Inner ring clamps or pinch clamps?

I'm getting rid of the worm gears first thing tomorrow.
